Comic book movies are all the rage in Hollywood, and it's not just blockbuster franchises like Batman and X-Men that are getting the movie treatment. One of the lesser-known comic series getting a big screen adaptation is Wildstorm's Danger Girl, an action-adventure comic about three female secret agents.

To those unfamiliar with Danger Girl, the series is sort of a less campy take on the Charlie's Angels formula with elements of Indiana Jones and James Bond thrown in for good measure (though anytime you're talking about three sexy female secret agents, it's hard to be taken too seriously).

Rumors about this film are coming fast and yesterday, we heard word that the production/management company BenderSpink secured the rights to Danger Girl and was currently pitching the project around Hollywood. To help in this effort, BenderSpink was said to have attached a trio of notable actresses to the film: Kate Beckinsale (Underworld), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), and Sofia Vergara (Modern Family), but this casting turned out to be FALSE.

The Playlist contacted WME, the talent agency for all three would-be she-spies and was told that none of the three actresses are involved. We here at Screen Rant can confirm that BenderSpink is indeed moving forward with the Danger Girl movie, but when asked, the company declined to mention whether any stars are attached at this time.

Beckinsale and Jovovich are veterans when it comes to the female action movie genre, so it's no surprise to that their names popped up in the rumors. Vergara's name was somewhat of a surprise, but there's no doubt that the actress is a hot commodity in Hollywood following her rise to fame on Modern Family.

According to Latino Review, the logline for the film is: "A beautiful adventuress joins forces with an all-female spy agency as they race around the world to recover a trio of powerful relics." That logline sounds mighty similar to the description of the Danger Girl: The Deluxe Edition comic book release, which reads:

"Danger Girl follows the story of renowned Archeologist and adventurer Abbey Chase as she is recruited by the super-secret spy organization, Danger Girl. Along with fellow operatives, Sydney Savage and Natalia Kasstle, Abbey was brought into Danger Girl by the enigmatic Deuce, a former British Secret Service agent who is the team leader. Their first mission together is to locate a series of mystical relics and keep them out of the hands of the Hammer Syndicate, a huge criminal network bent on world domination!"

We'll be sure to keep an eye on Danger Girl news moving forward, but in the meantime: Who would you like to see playing the lead roles?
