Danger Girl Comic Book Movie Danger Girl Movie Moving Ahead; No Cast Confirmed Yet

Comic book movies are all the rage in Hollywood, and it’s not just blockbuster franchises like Batman and X-Men that are getting the movie treatment. One of the lesser-known comic series getting a big screen adaptation is Wildstorm’s Danger Girl, an action-adventure comic about three female secret agents.

To those unfamiliar with Danger Girl, the series is sort of a less campy take on the Charlie’s Angels formula with elements of Indiana Jones and James Bond thrown in for good measure (though anytime you’re talking about three sexy female secret agents, it’s hard to be taken too seriously).

Rumors about this film are coming fast and yesterday, we heard word that the production/management company BenderSpink secured the rights to Danger Girl and was currently pitching the project around Hollywood. To help in this effort, BenderSpink was said to have attached a trio of notable actresses to the film: Kate Beckinsale (Underworld), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), and Sofia Vergara (Modern Family), but this casting turned out to be FALSE.

The Playlist contacted WME, the talent agency for all three would-be she-spies and was told that none of the three actresses are involved. We here at Screen Rant can confirm that BenderSpink is indeed moving forward with the Danger Girl movie, but when asked, the company declined to mention whether any stars are attached at this time.

Beckinsale and Jovovich are veterans when it comes to the female action movie genre, so it’s no surprise to that their names popped up in the rumors. Vergara’s name was somewhat of a surprise, but there’s no doubt that the actress is a hot commodity in Hollywood following her rise to fame on Modern Family.

According to Latino Review, the logline for the film is: “A beautiful adventuress joins forces with an all-female spy agency as they race around the world to recover a trio of powerful relics.” That logline sounds mighty similar to the description of the Danger Girl: The Deluxe Edition comic book release, which reads:

“Danger Girl follows the story of renowned Archeologist and adventurer Abbey Chase as she is recruited by the super-secret spy organization, Danger Girl. Along with fellow operatives, Sydney Savage and Natalia Kasstle, Abbey was brought into Danger Girl by the enigmatic Deuce, a former British Secret Service agent who is the team leader. Their first mission together is to locate a series of mystical relics and keep them out of the hands of the Hammer Syndicate, a huge criminal network bent on world domination!”

We’ll be sure to keep an eye on Danger Girl news moving forward, but in the meantime: Who would you like to see playing the lead roles?

  1. This has already been dubunked by The Playlist.

  2. So after seeing that pic at the top of the article you’re telling me that this is supposed to be LESS campy than Charlie’s Angels??

  3. People will think this is a either a sequel to Sucker Punch or they won’t know what it is at all. And since they are trying to raise Charlie’s Angels from the dead on ABC (which looks like it might tank big time, one would have to wonder if this movie is really going to draw an audience.

    • Of course it will tank, have you seen the trailer, it is cheesier than the movie. How they can make supermodles seem like they are anything but over paid actresses is beyond me.

  4. As much as I love the comics, mostly for the artwork, I don’t think a movie will work.
But would love to see Elisha Cuthbert, Natalie Portman, and maybe Rose Byrne.

    • Elisha Cuthbert would make a great Abbey Chase at least as far as appearance goes. Cameron Diaz has that Chase look too.

  5. if they get the right people, play the right cards
this movie can work. & those of you that dont no
jack about danger dont mistake it for charlies angels
C.A. dont got sh** on D.G., danger girl is jus about the females
in my opinion theres waay more badass characters to look
    forward to.

  6. I will just re-watch Sucker Punch.

  7. Oh dear, i hope this is a hoax – although I will watch anything with Sofia Vergara in it, and I mean anything – she is the hottest women on this planet!!

Really, Danger Girl – sounds like a Simpsons pi$$ take.

  8. This sounds like Tomb Raider times 3. If I want to see hot women, I can just go watch Baywatch for free; if they can give me a great script and great acting, sure, I’d watch but something tells me, if this is true, it won’t be good.

  9. Kate is good but Rhona Mitra is like the tougher version of her. Milla is perfect and not sure who can be the third girl, I want to say Zoe Saladana but that’s too easy of a pick…I’m sure there’s some new talent out there

    • “Kate is good but Rhona Mitra is like the tougher version of her”

Rhona Mitra is a lightweight compared to Kate, not only as an action star, but as an actor as well.

  10. I’m guessing those of you dismissing the movie HAVENT read the comic books ???

  11. charlize theron is better than vergana . charlize is a real veteran and vergana not. And paul ws for director assisten. Len wiseman for producent and I happy.

  12. Mandy Moore, Jessica Biel and Elisha Cuthbert. Nuff said. All actors, all lookers, all seasoned veterans. Read it and weep.

  13. If you don’t know the concept behind DC’s danger girl don’t bother to comment, Danger girl if done correctly could be a great cult movie, no way you can compare it to sucker punch, as for Charlies angels it’s nothing like it. I think for any decision on actress’s could be made we need to see the script. Follow the comic don’t try to make it a comedy like they seem to do a lot of. And stay with the style of the character unlike Laura croft.

  14. I agree with Lloyd here. There are way too many clueless posters making ignorant comments about ‘Danger Girl’ who need to maybe do some research before jumping to conclusions.

  15. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was curious what all is needed to get setup? I’m assuming having
a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very web smart so I’m not
100% certain. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

  16. I personally think the film would rock because I am a huge fan of the comics, and I would love to see a film produced which would NOT echo a pathetic Chris Nolan Bats movie or a trash-can Jason Bourne movie. Just produce a cartoony superspy movie, include the same atmosphere as the comics.
