La La Land, which opened this weekend to strong box office numbers in limited release, has emerged as an Oscar frontrunner. While Moonlight and Manchester by the Sea have also collected their share of critics awards so far, La La Land, director Damien Chazelle’s L.A. musical, starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, has emerged as a huge favorite with both critics and audiences.

Now, La La Land has earned another major accolade -- both Best Picture honors and the most overall awards at the 22nd Annual Critics Choice Awards.

The two groups, which present the Critics Choice Awards and held them Sunday night, presented La La Land with eight awards, including Best Picture. The film also won for Best Director and a share of Best Original Screenplay for Damien Chazelle, Best Cinematography for Linus Sandgren, Best Production Design for David Wasco and Sandy Reynolds-Wasco, Best Editing for Tom Cross, Best Song (“City of Stars”) and Best Score for Justin Hurwitz.
