Criminal Minds Suspect Behavior Cast Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior Trailer & Behind the Scenes Video

In less than two weeks, Criminal Minds fans will have two things to cheer about. As we reported back in December, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, the new spin-off of the popular crime drama, will air directly after the original Criminal Minds on February 16th.

The spin-off features Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker as the head of a new team of FBI behavioral analysts. In addition to Whitaker, Suspect Behavior features a well-rounded cast including Janeane Garofalo, Matt Ryan, Michael Kelly, Beau Garrett and Kirsten Vangsness. Like the original series, this team will focus on taking down the baddest bad guys out there, serial killers and other violent offenders included.

Criminal Minds has one of the most passionate fanbases of any current TV show, which is why I thought it was interesting that about half of the commenters on our previous article were excited about the new show, while the other half were worried that it wouldn’t live up to the original.

Maybe these two new videos from CBS will help get everybody on the same page. The first is a two-minute trailer for the show, highlighting the action and drama that the new cast will bring to the Criminal Minds franchise, while the second is a behind the scenes look at the show with interviews from the cast and crew.

I rip on police procedurals a lot here at Screen Rant (even though I’m a sucker for Law & Order: SVU), because they’re frequently unoriginal. When you’re dealing with a spinoff show, it’s even more of a risk. TV viewers are forced to ask, “What does this show bring to the table that the original didn’t?”

However, based on these videos and the strength of the original series, I’m willing to bet that Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior ends up being a solid new series for CBS. It’s easy to complain about formulaic television when the formula is no good. But, if you have something that works, and you can make it work again, why not give it a try?

What do you think of Forest Whitaker and his crew in action? Is this on your must-watch list for new TV shows?

Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior airs on February 16th at 10PM ET/9PM CT.

  1. Wonder how long til they start firing the female actors on this show.

  2. So sad. I love Criminal Minds. I love the original actors (current seasonS) not the first season. Why the change? This was not a broken show. It was still working well. Why do program owners and producers screw things up so badly? Both Paget and JJ did a great job. They are all doing a great job. I am dumbfounded as to why anyone would change this show. This is sad sad sad. I do not look forward to the spin off. Spin off’s rarely work and rarely last.
What’s next – another dumb cheap to run reality show?

  3. The elimination of both A.J. Cook And Paget Brewster Will be the probable downfall of the show. The reason being is the people who have the most say in this are the viewers, and this time I feel they, ( the writers ) may have crossed the line. I believe they will ultimately turn off the show. It’s to bad that people who SHOULD know better, keep making the same mistake, in letting their egos get ahead of the storyline.

  4. Yo like I know they screw everything up……………I rly dont like it…..criminal minds was awsome the way it was….It made me sad when JJ left……..I dont think its going to be very good when Emily (paget) leaves….It throws the balence off….

  5. What i said is not true they are good they keep us entertained……………………….It just came out rong……………..Im going to be sad when emily leaves……………………but i think ill still watch it

  6. I was really looking forward to the new spin off of Criminal Minds until I found out that Janeane Garofalo is going to be in it. Why would they get rid of likable characters like JJ and Emily Prentiss on the original show, and then sign up someone like Garofalo to be on the spin off? I quit watching 24 when she began to be on it (even though it had been one of my favorite shows before that) and I don’t even think I’ll bother to give this spin off a chance since she’s on it. There had to be many more talented actresses they could have gotten for that part. I’m sure that Garofalo will inject her political views into every episode an ruin the show. Why not? She does it everywhere else she goes.

    • You’re absolutely right! Garofalo had to be the worst choice for the show. I wasn’t going to watch because of her but decided to watch to see if in fact her political views would show through. Sure enough not even five minutes into the show and the race card was thrown in – won’t watch the show anymore.

  7. Was looking forward to this new show, I love Forest Whitaker. However, given that one of the other “stars” on this show is Janeane Garofalo, I WILL NOT BE WATCHING THIS AGAIN. She is the epitome of narrow-minded…not to mention she’s a terrible actress.

  8. I will not watch this show due to the Left wing American hater Janeane Garofalo

  9. As much as I like Forrest Whitaker, it will never replace the original Criminal Minds.
