The 2011 San Diego Comic-Con has come to a close, and we’ve brought you plenty the best coverage we’ve ever provided (with more yet to come). Here’s just some of the information we’ve posted up over the last few days: Hugh Jackman confirming the Silver Samurai as the villain in Wolverine 2; Nathan Fillion talking Uncharted; Edgar Wright giving an Ant-Man update; the first look at Snow White and the Huntsman and Marc Webb discussing the 3D camera work from The Amazing Spider-Man.
But all of that news is only one part of the Comic-Con experience. Another major part part – and the reason some people even attend – is to see and/or be a part of cosplay. Whether you’re standing in line to see Twilight in Hall H, listening to a comic book writer discuss his industry in Room 33A or just trying to buy a $4 soda and a $2.50 cookie (!!!) from the ripoff concession stand – one thing you will see everywhere you go are people dressed as their favorite characters from TV, movies and comics.
Every year the quality of the costumes range from elaborate video game characters to cheaply made superhero outfits, but no matter who you see they are all entertaining – and in some cases quite impressive. We spent the week scouting out the San Diego Convention Center tracking down all the best costumes we could find. This collection of 74 costumes is just the tip of the dress-up iceberg – you could spend the entire day standing in one place looking at them pass by and still never see them all.

Well I was expecting better costumes from comic-con. All the best costumes/cosplay I’ve ever seen in this country are from there. The quality looks no different than the small cons in my area. Kind of disappointed.
Did we somewhere say in the title of this post that these were pics of “hot girls”? If so, then my bad /sarcasm off.

Why was Kevin Smith dressed as an Ewok? Kidding. Cool pics. People who’ve never been to SDCC can’t appreciate the elaborate costumes these folks create. Good stuff! I think this is one of the first years where Slave Leia took a backseat to a rather lovely Tinkerbell. The little guy dressed as Flash was pretty cool too and I can only hope he wasn’t eaten by the Centurion.

I’m glad you posted that comment – they’re not working right for some reason. They should only show on 1/3 of the images and they should be much more subtle and transparent. I’ll look into it.

Blue Meanie, Donnie Darko, and that Iron Man/Tony Stark in the Avengers group shot have to be the best.
I’d love to go next year. I think it’d be fun to be The Joker, but that’s a bit overdone.
Travis Morgan looks decent (cept for the feathers but Grell made them look that way) never saw him done before.

those girls are cute. pretty much all of them. guys, what you need to know about girls is this: they love to dress up and look sexy. they are also doing that for us. any guy who can’t appreciate a girl in a costume, well, perhaps your just heterosexually-challenged or for real, dude, you’re gonna just have to keep replacing your jessica rabbit posters.
these girls are the kind you want. they dress sexy (in public!) so they dont get embarrassed easily, they are geeky (which likely means they are nice), they like the same things you do (easy conversation and activities together), they are all ages, so you can be any age and get one, and if they are going dressed up as a comic character, then they sure ain’t gonna judge YOU! so succumb to their jedi behind tricks and when they say, “i’m the droid you’re looking for”, then do the right thing and nod your head and repeat, “you are the droid I’m lookin’ for”
