First Official Image of Matt Ryan as Constantine New Constantine TV Show Pilot Details

NBC is hard at work on its upcoming supernatural detective TV show Constantine, based on the DC comic book of the same name (though it’s previously been titled Hellblazer). Most recently, we saw the first image of Matt Ryan (Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag) as the titular character, and frankly – it looked pretty darn good.

Now, the script for the pilot has apparently leaked, and with it we’ve got all new information about the plot details and characters we can expect to meet in the very first episode. Obviously, that means there will be SPOILERS. If you’re not at all interested in learning about the Constantine TV show particulars this far ahead of the game, do not click on the link below.

  1. Hope he gets the trencoat quick as in…at the end of the first episode. I wanna see it right away. He isn’t Constantine without it or his cigarette. Exited for the show but the Sleepy Hollow and Supenatural comparisons scare me. Don’t want a ripoff of those. Goyer involvement scares me too.

  2. for gotham they wont be able to do cross overs endless they do a episode where it goes back in time .. but i can possibly see a arrow or the flash cross over although i dont think there smart enough for whatever reason i think arrow and the flash are goona have cross overs but this wont just cause CW & NBC are there own brands … the networks would gain more viewers possibly on each show by doing cross overs though

  3. “….after witnessing a 9-year-old girl have her soul taken to hell by a demon.”

Any random 9 year old girl or will it be his sister like in the comics? Plus it was all his fault because he was messing around with seances and ouija boards with his punk band, which is part of the reason he learns to use magic properly and fight demons due to his own guilt.

Excited either way and honestly, I’m not worried about someone seeing it as a Sleepy Hollow ripoff because this is one person’s opinion and it was only the first episode being described. Has to find its feet first. Arrow started as a kind of Smallville style show until it found its feet and became THE comic book show to watch with all kinds of greatness (still excited thanks to last night’s Suicide Squad episode, that Harley Quinn cameo….).

So yeah, not worried at all.

    • I was wondering the same thing actually. I hope that they’re just leaving it a surprise for the audience. Not sure why they’d pass up an opportunity to give his character a backstory with that much heart.

  4. keeping my fingers crossed that this show is more supernatural horror than anything else. too many programs have comedy and i wouldnt mind a change. im not saying get rid of comedy but i would rather it be a horror show.

happy its being made into a tv show rather than a movie because they dont feel as restricted as they would with movies. studios are always trying to put their own spin on things and its annoying. i dont think it will use muh cgi

    • If you can, check out Inside No. 9 or Psychoville. They have the dark humour I expect from this show.

  5. I am hoping this show ends up working out in the end because I love the Constantine comics. We shall see though

  6. Difficult to glamourize a character smoking when he’s dying of cancer and struggling to keep himself out of hell. Integral to the character and not an advertisement anyone wants for a product. Why the issue?

  7. Biggest Questions is will he SMOKE ???
And of course hope its good !

    Need him smoking !

  8. No smoking
    No trenchcoat
No friends dying due to him being well a twat
    No sarcasm

Equals me passing on the show and sticking to the comics
If all of the above are in then lets get the party started.

    • * No smoking…..yet. We don’t know, he might.

      * No trenchcoat….yet. Notice they said “yet” as in “he’ll get it at some point”. Why would he need it if he just got out of an asylum?

      * No friends dying…..yet. They only saw a preview of the episode 1 script.

      * No sarcasm…..yet. We don’t know, again, it’s an early preview.

I also have no idea how you got a pretty offensive word in that post (the T word) and it passed the censors. Not that it offends me (there’s literally not a single word I haven’t used in both positive and negative connotations and in regular conversation) but still, hopefully SR pick up on that in case someone sees it and does complain.

      • Yeah I just noticed that myself, good catch, thought it would end up scrambled, woops my bad.
But the word is fitting to the character and that is how it was meant.

And like I said if those 4 points are in it might be a very good show.
I simply have an issue with movie/tv studios changing characters way too much, mind you I do love what they did with Arrow.

Still keeping my fingers crossed that they maybe someday when all the stars align and everyone wins the lottery and hell has a snow day that they add the whole Ollie/Hal (Green Arrow/Green Lantern) friendship.

  9. I don’t know how it is in the old comic book series, but in the New 52 Justice League Dark, that trenchcoat is not always Constantine’s. It belonged to Nick Necro, who apparently also taught Constantine all the hocus pocus alongside Zatanna. Nick Necro returned later in the series as a villain. Not sure if the show will be following that particular storyline, but it is strange that they had to point out that Constantine won’t be wearing the trenchcoat for a while.
