Ever since NBC cancelled Constantine back in May, fans have clamored for the resurrection of the mystic superhero. Speculation that the DC Comics-based TV show would eventually move to another network proved false – but fans received a glimmer of hope when Constantine’s title character appeared on an episode of Arrow season 4 on The CW.

Now that Constantine is officially part of DC Comic’s shared television universe (which includes Arrow and The Flash), fan hopes have resurface (again) that the Hellblazer might find new life on another network than NBC.

Change.org has a fan petition to bring back Constantine on a new network. The petition targets the CW, El Rey, Yahoo, Netflix, and USA networks as potential candidates to resurrect the show. The petition points out that the Constantine/Arrow crossover episode resulted in an 11% increase for Arrow’s key demographic – proof that fans still love the show. As of this writing, the petition has nearly 27,000 supporters of its 35,000 goal.

The return of the Constantine remains a strong possibility. We’ve seen Netflix continue shows like The Killing, after it was cancelled by AMC, and has also sponsored revivals of shows like Arrested Development and Gilmore Girls. The CW has obviously shown interest in the Hellblazer by including him on their show, Arrow. So it’s entirely possible that this petition, combined with the increased ratings for the Constantine/Arrow crossover, might just convince someone to revive the show.

Stephen Amell Matt Ryan and Katie Cassidy in Arrow Season 4 Episode 51 Constantine: Fans Petition for Show to Continue on a New Network

Constantine represents the most recent addition to the DC Television Universe, which consists of the shows Arrow, The Flash, and the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow. Arrow has come a long way since producers insisted the show remain “grounded” in reality. Now it not only brought in the mystical John Constantine, but the primary villain for this season is Damien Dark, another mystic character.

In summation: his cameo may have only lasted for one episode, but personally, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Matt Ryan’s John Constantine.

Arrow airs on Wednesdays at 8/7c on the CW. We’ll bring you more Constantine-related news as it comes our way.
