John Constantine will be making his live-action return in an episode of Legends of Tomorrow this season. The DC Comics character initially headlined his own solo series, Constantineon NBC in 2014, though due to lackluster ratings, averaging 3.34 million viewers per episode and only 0.9 in the coveted 18-49 demographic, the network ended up canceling the occult comic book show after one season, despite objections from devout fans.

Even though the numerous fan petitions and social media campaigns weren't successful in getting the TV series back on the air, Constantine did manage to come back another way. Matt Ryan, who played the eponymous antihero, had appeared in an episode of Arrow, thus confirming John Constantine's existence within the colloquially-named Arrowverse. His short-lived guest role in the show's fourth season was warmly welcomed by both Arrow and Constantine fans, and so, earlier this year, The CW officially revived Constantine and is currently in the midst of adapting the property into an animated web-series, which is scheduled to premiere on CW Seed in 2018 - but that's not the only place John Constantine will be appearing in the near future.

ComicBook reports that John Constantine will be appearing in an episode of The CW's Legends of Tomorrow this season, though specifics on the guest appearance weren't revealed. The news was further confirmed by series showrunner Phil Klemmer, who revealed in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes at New York Comic-Con 2017 that audiences will see "John Constantine doing an exorcism" at some point in season 3.

The character's appearance on Legends of Tomorrow will mark the second time that he has appeared in live-action in the Arrowverse, as well as the second show within the network's shared universe. It's unclear when (and in which time period) Constantine will appear, and it's unknown if the episode will tie into the character's new animated web series. However, the network surely wouldn't pass up the opportunity to promote the appearance, so fans should expect to see promos for the Constantine episode sometime this season.

We'll just have to wait and see if John Constantine's exorcism has any ramifications on the Legends or the character's upcoming solo TV series, or if this will be just another stop along the time-stream for the Waverider and her crew. Regardless, Constantine fans will undoubtedly welcome the new guest appearance and possibly even hope for more to come in the future, now that the character is officially joining the Arrowverse in a more permanent capacity.
