conan nbc Conan Gets Justice Selling Two Pilots to NBC

Less than a week after his last appearance as host of The Tonight Show, Conan is already getting back into bed with NBC by selling the network two television pilots, Justice and The Pink House, from his production company, Conaco.

Justice is an hour-long series written by John Eisendrath (Felicity, Alias) that follows an ex-Supreme Court justice who quits to start his own legal practice and is being described as a new take on a law show with a larger-than-life character at the center.

The Pink House is a half-hour multi-camera comedy concept show. While not much is known about it, one can assume that it would involve a house and possibly the color pink, but that’s just a guess. I could be wrong.

I gotta say, with NBC’s track record of canceling shows and Conaco’s track record for producing shows that get canceled, it seems as if we’ve got a match made in cancellation heaven. Sadly, that also means we might never see either of these projects come to light.

Still, there’s nothing like taking a couple extra paychecks from your former company to make your morning coffee taste that much better.

Maybe it’s just me, but neither of these shows really sound all that great. Sure, one of them is just a color and a structure and the other is a short synopsis, but I’m just not feeling them. Although, maybe it’s all the coffee I drank because I’m not really feeling my arms or face right now.

What do you think? Any chance these shows will take off? Are you looking forward to a “new take” on a law show? Anyone need their house painted?

Let’s hear it!

We’ll be sure to keep you up to date as we hear more news about Justice and The Pink House.

  1. I am waiting for the article where we learn that Conan has joined FOX for a new Late Night Show. Fox Tonight With Conan Obrien… or something

  2. Nothing against Conan, but does TV REALLY need another law show? I mean there's what Law and Order, L&O:SVU, L&O:CI, CSI, CSI:Miami, CSI:NY, 24( to an extent), Bones(Which I love to watch BTW). Chances are I missed a few but IMO I think the law and order TV market is crowded right now. A decent Sit-com would be nice though. Of course failing that, Conan could always go back to the Simpsons.

  3. I'm a lawyer, I hate my job, and I want to be on this show. Hire me please. I can provide not horrible looks, a good sense of humor, and real life experience in the grinding crush of the legal practice.

Plus, I really want to say I was in a show that was cancelled before it even aired! Resume' available upon request.

  4. For readers who are too young to recall – or who just weren't very interested, at the time – it may help you to read some background on the infamous 'Letterman vs Leno' feud. Here's a detailed article explaining how Jay Leno took over Johnny Carson's job as host of the 'The Tonight Show', way back in 1993.

  5. Call me biased, but if Conan is behind these shows, then I will be bound to watch them. He's one of my heroes and I've said many times that as a fan, I will stick with him and support anything he wants to do

  6. Remember when they tried to combine law shows and reality shows in the form of Law and Order: Crime and Punishment?

Conan definitely should go back to The Simpsons. At least for an episode. I mean, really.

The new episodes of the Simpsons aren't bad (most this season, anyway). Conan would definitely bring a change. I don't know much about the industry, but I feel like writing is where people start and not where they want to end up.

He could try acting? Him and Liz Lemon have a history. Just saying.
