The long-running detective show Psych will return for its seventh season this Fall on USA.  To get ready for the big new season, the cast and crew of  Psych are talking about the show at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con, and Screen Rant is on hand to cover it .

The panel includes Psych stars James Roday [JR], Dulé Hill [DH], Maggie Lawson [ML], Tim Omundson [TO], Kirsten Nelson [KN], and Corbin Bernsen [CB], along with show producers Steve Franks [SF] (creator/executive producer), Kelly Kulchak [KK] (executive producer), and Chris Henze [CH] (executive producer).

If you’re attending the convention, you can check out the panel yourself at 2:15 PM Pacific Time in Ballroom 20. If not, keep it parked right here and for the latest Psych news, brought to you live by Screen Rant.

3:10: Announcement….In February next year, a new book called “Psych‘s Guide to Crime Fighting for the Totally Unqualified” will be released nationwide with the two leads on the cover. It sounds like a must-read for Psych fans.

3:07: Audience question: “If Shawn and Gus switched bodies for a day, what’s the first thing they would do.” James’ audience is that his character would “probably try to dunk.” Hill says that he would play with Shawn’s hair…

3:05: Dule Hill’s mom just called him during the panel. He answered the phone and put it on speaker. His mom said hello to the audience.

2:53: Audience question…Has any of the cast ever geeked out over a celebrity encounter. Dule Hill’s answer: Lionel Ritchie. Corbin answers that he geeked out over Jeffrey Tambor, who will be in an episode next season. Tambor will play Juliet’s stepdad.

2:45: Franks says that the musical episode of Psych is happening. He said, “The musical episode has been partially written. We’re going to shoot it in October. It’s gonna be a two-hour musical.”

2:44: In terms of doing a themed episode, creator Steve Franks says  “We would like to do something more extensive with Stars Wars but we don’t have the money for it.”

2:38: Least favorite scene being shot….Bernsen says that it was the scene where his character was shot in the season finale.

2:34: Maggie offers her favorite part of working with Timothy Omundsen. Before he films his scenes, actors asks him what he’s gonna do with the take. Common response: “I’m gonna act the shit out of this…”

2:26: Looks like season seven will feature a Blair Witch Project parody and an episode that looks like a modern-day Clue. Christopher Lloyd makes a brief appearance in that episode. Teaser takes a serious turn regarding last season’s finale. But it ends without letting audiences know if Corbin Bernsen’s character survives…After the teaser is shown,  Bernsen arrives on the panel to thunderous applause.

2:24: Hashtag is #PsychSDCC for the panel.  Teaser tape is about to run for the new season…

Psych airs on the USA network and is scheduled to return to the airwaves later this year.

  1. I don’t want to wait for Psych season 7 … I want it and I want it now! :(

  2. Psych used to be a good show but it’s stale now. They don’t focus as much on the interesting supporting cast (even Gus has been subtly sidelined a bit), and all the focus is going to the boring Sean and Juliet relationship. I gave up some time during season 5.

    • And yes, I did catch a few episodes of Season 6. But they suffered from the exact same problem.

      • dude you are out of your mind. Psych is and always will be the best show on this planet. Plus, no characters are being sidelined. You need to watch more episodes and regain your former love for the show.

  3. and btw did u see the finale. completely awesome. You are officially mentally insane.

  4. Shawn and juliet rarely even have seems together and when they do it’s only for a few minutes so they are not taking away from the show its even better and how is henry getting shot stale wtf?!? Psych is the best
