Comic-Con '08: Day 4 Wrap Up

Doug Nagy from TheMovieBlog.com, Alex Billington from Firstshowing.net and me with the three stars of Bitch Slap at the Wrath of Con party

Another day at Comic-Con, another sore rear end from the uncomfortable seats in Hall H…

Today’s events included watching the Season 3 premiere episode of Heroes, which was a huge unexpected bonus. It looks like the show is getting its mojo back and if you’re a fan you’re really going to like it when it returns this Fall.

Terminator Salvation Rated PG-13 or R?

Remember a while back when Warner Brothers confirmed that Terminator Salvation would be a PG-13 rated film? Well, it appears that might not be the case after all.

While talking up the production and showing footage today, director McG revealed:

“We put the picture first at all times. If it’s an R-rated picture, it’s an R-rated picture and that’s that.”

Comic-Con '08: Zack and Miri vs. The MPAA

Hanging out with his cast and fans, director Kevin Smith opened up about the controversy surrounding his upcoming comedy Zack and Miri Make a Porno being slapped with the NC-17 rating - aka “The Kiss of Death,” for any film hoping to have box-office success.

The Clerks helmer explained:

Comic-Con ‘08: Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible Panel

Comic-Con '08: Joss Whedon's Dr. Horrible Panel

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is a three act internet flick about a lovelorn wannabe-supervillain who tends to break out into song.

As the panel started and Joss Whedon was introduced, a complete standing ovation erupted from the audience.  The crowd truly appreciates the work he has done, presently does and I suspect, will do in the future.

Comic-Con ‘08: Stargate Continuum Panel

Comic-Con '08: Stargate Continuum Panel

This panel was a follow up to the premiere of Stargate Continuum the night before.

As the Stargate SG-1 cast came in and were introduced, everyone applauded wildly - but by far the big fan favorite (judging by how deaf I went from the cheers) was Christopher Judge, hands down, for this Stargate Continuum forum.

Amanda Tapping talked briefly about her new web-to-TV show, Sanctuary, which has filmed eight of its scheduled thirteen episodes so far.

As for Ben Browder, he’s enjoying some quiet time between acting gigs and volunteering his time coaching pole vaulting at a local high school.

Comic-Con ‘08: Lost Panel

Comic-Con '08: Lost Panel

The Lost panel opened with a number of video clips that were not from the show. The first was a documentary style report about the survivors of the crash, talking about them and asking whether the situation was what it seemed, or if there was some sort of conspiracy.

Then there was what seemed like a DVD extra feature showing some of the cast members on the set, specifically the new additions from the freighter.

Executive producers Carlton Cuse and David Lindelof were in attendance.

Comic-Con '08: Terminator Salvation Panel

Liveblogging the Terminator Salvation movie panel at Comic-Con 2008.

McG came out and said they’re in the middle of photography in New Mexico right now. Said they weren’t excited about making Terminator 4, they were excited about a new beginning and showing us a part of the story we hadn’t seen before.

Comic-Con ‘08: Heroes Panel

Comic-Con '08: Heroes Panel

This is the first time that TV show panels have been hosted in Hall H, which is the monster room that sets over 6,000 people. Heroes and Lost have enough of a following here that they’ve decided to move those panels here.

It opened with episode three of a Heroes webisode. I haven’t been following the webisodes so I’m not familiar. It was called “Going Postal” which featured a guy with super voice powers that can kill people with the force of his voice. He kills a couple Fed types. It cuts to 13 weeks later showing him captured by Cristine Rose. Seemed a bit cheesy up until the scene where she showed up.

Comic-Con '08: Day 3 Wrap Up

Gotta tell you guys, we’re having a blast. Somehow this year I’m relaxing more yet getting more posts out about the goings-on here at Comic-Con. Here’s a bit of a wrap up of yesterday (since it’s 3AM and no longer Friday).

I’ve enjoyed seeing some of my online movie buds in person again. Nice to actually hang out instead of just exchanging emails, Twitters and IMs.

Stargate Continuum Red Carpet Premiere

Stargate Continuum Red Carpet Premiere

Being a huge Stargate SG-1 fan, it was quite an honor to have the opportunity to attend the premiere of the upcoming direct to DVD movie Stargate: Continuum. I’m still enough of a fanboy to geek out at the opportunity to meet the actors from one of my all time favorite TV series… PLUS I’m happy to report that the movie was excellent! Far better than the previous SG-1 DVD film Stargate: The Ark of Truth.
