The 2015 International Comic-Con will get underway in San Diego close on the heels of the Fourth of July holiday weekend; as such, news about what movies and TV shows will (and will not) be presented at the event has started to make its way online. For example, current Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi will make his Comic-Con debut for the beloved sci-fi TV series panel – which will be among helping to kick off the ‘Con on its first day, Thursday July 9th.
20th Century Fox is sure to have a big presentation at the International Comic-Con in 2015 – one that should include multiple superhero films, including Fantastic Four (which opens in August this year), as well as two of the three X-Men films due to arrive in 2016, Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse. However, there will also be panels for the many FOX TV network programs, and that lineup will include returning geek TV shows like Sleepy Hollow, along with the titles slated to debut on the channel during the 2015-16 television season.
Sleepy Hollow, in particular, could benefit from a good showing at the 2015 International ‘Con, coming off a sophomore season that was widely considered inferior to its debut season. The series will have a different show-runner in season three, with a plan to return the supernatural horror/crime procedural to its episodic adventure storytelling format from season one. FOX’s Comic-Con panel will therefore present Sleepy Hollow‘s main executive producers – who will be attending with cast members Nicole Berharie, Lindie Greenwood, and Tom Mison – a chance to turn the tide back in their favor, ahead of the show’s return in the fall.
Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan’s Fox horror/comedy anthology series Scream Queens will be one of two major new FOX programs debuting its pilot 2015 Comic-Con panel. Most of the series’ season one cast – Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Skyler Samuels and Keke Palmer – will be present, as part of a join presentation with cast members from the upcoming American Horror Story: Hotel (AHS‘s fifth season overall): Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Matt Bomer. It’s fitting, since Murphy and Falchuk have worked with many of those actors on multiple projects – and the trailer suggests Scream Queens is basically American Horror Story meets Glee (also created by the Murphy/Falchuk/Brennan team)… for better or worse.
The other major new FOX series that will premiere at the 2015 ‘Con is Minority Report, the sequel TV series to the 2002 Steven Spielberg sci-fi/thriller movie of the same name. Stars Stark Sands and Meagan Good will be in attendance along with other as-yet unannounced cast members and producers; the panel will start with a special screening of the show’s pilot, followed by a question and answer segment. This will be another one to watch, seeing as Minority Report is definitely one of the freshman programs that has people intrigued… but could definitely benefit from a good Comic-Con showing (or, alternatively, take a noteworthy hit if early word of mouth is bad).
