In just two short weeks, San Diego Comic-Con 2014 will be here, which means we’ll have more movie, TV, and general entertainment news for you to peruse than most people could even begin to enjoy. We’ve already created a Top 10 list of things we really want to see at the Con this year, and news is starting to trickle in regarding which projects we’re likely to see (Fantastic Four, Ant-Man, Agent Carter, and on).

Now two studios – Dreamworks Animation and Fox – have unveiled the films we can expect to see at their respective panels on Thursday the 24th and Friday the 25th.

First up is Dreamworks. According to their press release, they’ll have panels for their upcoming animated films – The Penguins of Madagascar and Home – in Hall H on Thursday, July 24th from 11:30am to 1pmPenguins of Madagascar, of course, is the spinoff to the popular Madagascar franchise – featuring those eminently likable Penguins – starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the villain. The film follows from the Nickelodeon TV series of the same name.

Home is an original animated movie about a teenage girl (Rihanna) and the alien she befriends (Jim Parsons). It sort of sounds like E.T. if E.T. were also about well-meaning aliens that invaded Earth and relocated all the humans.

Check out the press release below for more details:

‘Home’ with Director Tim Johnson

Synopsis: When Earth is taken over by the overly-confident Boov, an alien race in search of a new place to call home, all humans are promptly relocated, while all Boov get busy reorganizing the planet. But when one resourceful girl, Tip (Rihanna), manages to avoid capture, she finds herself the accidental accomplice of a banished Boov named Oh (Jim Parsons). The two fugitives realize there’s a lot more at stake than intergalactic relations as they embark on the road trip of a lifetime.

As you can see, the stars of Penguins – including Cumberbatch and John Malkovich – will be on hand at their panel. Rihanna, however, will not be in attendance for the Home panel. Sorry, Rihanna fans.

  1. After seeing that first set photo of Agent 47, definitely won’t have high hopes for that one. That guy looks RIDICULOUS. He didn’t even shave his head completely for crying out loud. And the suit looked like it was 2 sizes too big for him, lol… Hopefully it all looks better in motion because the still image looked terrible…

    • Maybe he’s playing the original 47 before he was cloned.

  2. I have a major crush on Colin Firth. I wish he were going to be at the NYC Comic Con. Than again, the NYC Comic Con is a joke compared to the San Diego one. I don’t get it. NYC is so much more interesting than San Diego – I’m biased because I live in NYC. San Diego is more beautiful and Ja Jolla is breathtaking, but lets face it, its a good place to retire. NY is so high energy. Maybe its the lack of space. The Javitz Center is old and needs to be replaced with a more modern facility.
