I don’t know why should play it if not Ford. I do think Ford is a little old, but I DO NOT want some young guy like Franco doing it. I don’t have anything against Franco, but remember what happened the last time they used a “young” looking guy… Baldwin was young looking, but that was just a great cast, good director, and great story.

Oh well, they might as well put Christian Bale in it and be over with it. You know people will watch it then no matter what, lol.

I don’t know, would Dennis Quaid look dumb for the role??

I would be up for Harrison Ford Returning as Jack Ryan. If there is the prospect of Harrison Ford not returning as JR, I would recommend that they reboot it ina similiar fasion to that of Casino Royale. Cast someone who is younger and marketable to a younger generation unfamiliar with JR, Ryan Gosling would fit that perfectly. If you want to pick up from where HF left off, then Aaron Eckhart would be the ideal choice.

My dad Loved Debt of Honor ,
Which led to Ryans President arc
and two more president novels Executive Decision and The Bear and the Dragon.
But President Ryan wasnt weilding an Uzi,
So, they would have to be substantially rewritten.

I would prefer Harrison Ford play the role and hopefully people don’t automatically dismiss it because of Ford’s age. Dennis Quaid is a really good actor and would also be a solid second option.

Ken J says:

Yah, I think Quaid pulls off that loving family man type as well as the kick some ass government agent person too.

Bring on Ford…he is a good Jack Ryan and I did enjoy the two movies in that series that he was a part of..

Ken J says:

Yep, he would be my first choice as well, but the studios might not feel the same way. That’s why I’m already throwing out names for who I think might be a good second choice. :-)

Ooof – I love Indy. I love when he played Jack Ryan, but for the love of god – can we pretty please tap some of the B-level actors to get something different in the vein of Jack Ryan for the future?

I get that he “plays an analyst”, and while I’m not a Ben Afflect ultra-fan, he did pull off the gooney geek shoved into a situation he wasn’t prepared for.

We were just talking about this at work as I left today and what we all feared was “Firewall II: The Actionless Jack Ryan” and it’s not because of his age, it’s just that it’s time for someone else to be vaulted/step up.

Harrison Ford is a big mess… 8-)

I definitly think Ford should have a role in the next Ryan film, but I’d be interested to see him in a comedy.
