It looks like the top secret J.J. Abrams-helmed movie codenamed (or really named) Cloverfield has a release date that won’t be changing.
There’s a teaser site that’s gone live with an image consisting of a frame from the teaser trailer and nothing else. The domain name is 1-18-08.com, presumably referring to the movie’s release date.

The teaser was attached to Transformers and I have to admit it looked pretty cool. I haven’t really followed all the rumours and spy stuff on this movie, but I liked the trailer. It had a very “real” feeling about it that was very effective. It looks like it’s some kind of giant monster/alien movie and I’ve heard speculation that it might be an American version of the Korean film The Host, but as I said, that’s pure speculation.

I was thinking maybe the title of the movie is 01-18-08, just a thought. And should’t the Statue of Liberty’s head be bigger, it seemed awfully small.
New Godzilla movie!
Godzilla was my take too, I heard an interesting sound affect in the back ground that led me to believe Godzilla, but wouldn’t that be too obvious?
Besides, I may be swayed too easily into wanting to see a new Godzilla flick…

From what I’ve read: Matt Reeves (“The Pallbearer”) will direct the top-secret Drew Goddard (“Lost”) written horror film “Cloverfield”, according to Aint it Cool News.
The hush-hush offering, produced by J.J Abrams, fixes on “a giant monster movie featuring something that’s being called “The Parasite”. It’s also known that the film’s been shot using hand-held video cameras. Oh, and its set in New York.

Has anyone tried using some souped up graphics program and try to ascertain what reflection is in the characters eyes in the teaser poster, or am I having one of my over-hopeful moments? To me, it looks like they are looking at something with it’s arms spread, but .. I think that might be the budweiser speaking! – Bruce
