SCI FI Wire is reporting that there are several “easter eggs,” hidden visual and audio treats placed strategically in Cloverfield, that are a bit interesting. If you haven’t seen the movie, then look no further after the jump, because I’m going to list a couple of them which may spoil the movie for you!
I’m warning you: look no further, or the ending will be ruined! Don’t blame us!
You okay to hang around and not worry about spoilers? Good! Anyway, here are a couple of the easter eggs:
1. At the very end, I stayed in the theatre and heard static. I couldn’t tell what it was, but apparently someone says, “It’s still alive,” as in the “hammer,” aka mega bombing, didn’t kill the creature.
2. During the final scene, which features a flashback of footage featuring Rob and Beth on the ferris wheel at Coney Island (the whole idea is that Hud recorded over most of that precious footage, but not this part), there’s something apparently seen in the water. Is it a monster or what? Director Matt Reeves says something’s going on, but he won’t divulge more. Well, I didn’t notice that, so I guess it’s time to slap down $6.50 for a pricey matinee to re-watch it.
