2017 promises to be a big year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios is already in production on Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, while Marvel TV is wrapping up Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season four and filming The Defenders and The Punisher for Netflix. The Marvel brand will be expanding even further with Hulu's Runaways potentially already filming and Cloak & Dagger set to air on Freeform next year.

Marvel has been making casting announcements in the lead up to the start of production on Cloak & Dagger, starting by announcing that Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt are playing Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen, respectively. With the series slated to start production this month, the first photos of its two stars together has surfaced - indicating the start of filming is, in fact, right around the corner.

Joseph took to his Instagram to post photos of the two young stars together. The Cloak & Dagger TV series is described as being a teen love story and the two actors already appear to be very happy to be working together. With them being together, and possibly in New Orleans already, production should be officially starting any day now - assuming it hasn't already started, unofficially.

While these are just photos, the fact that both actors appear to be getting along already should go a long ways in making their chemistry on screen believable. Marvel and Freeform most likely put its Cloak & Dagger stars through chemistry reads before officially casting them, so there should be some real-life connection between the pair.

With previous reports indicating that production was to begin this week, these photos surfacing now suggest that Cloak & Dagger may indeed already be filming. Marvel recently announced additional cast members for the TV series, which only further indicates that pre-production is wrapping up (or has wrapped up). Hopefully over the next few days, more looks at the show's cast members in character will be making their way online too.

Even though it does have the Marvel brand attached, Cloak & Dagger is the first MCU airing on Freeform - so it should be interesting to see how much of the fanbase follows it there. Fans should not expect any major connections to the larger MCU just yet, but no doubt Cloak & Dagger will establish a connection early on through references to the Avengers or related superheroes. Still, with a presumably smaller setting away from the rest of the MCU, this TV show can exist on its own and hopefully, add more quality programming to the MCU as a whole.
