daybreakers legion clips New Clips from Legion and Daybreakers

Guess what sci-fi/action/thriller fans? We’ve got a double dose of awesome for you today. That’s right, we’re bringing not one, but two clips for you to geek out over. No thanks needed, it’s our pleasure to serve.

The first clip comes from the Paul Bettany and Dennis Quaid film, Legion. If you’ll recall from our previous coverage (including the Red Band trailer we shared back in August), Legion is the story of a diner full of people who attempt to fight off an apocalyptic army of angels sent by God to destroy humanity. Among the characters is the Archangel Michael (played by Bettany), who, for some reason which I hope the film will explain, decides to ignore God’s bidding and help save humanity instead. Dennis Quaid (looking craggier than ever) and Tyrese Gibson also star as two of the diner’s denizens who get caught up in the battle.

We first started talking about Legion back in July when Screen Rant reporter Rob Keyes attended the panel presentation for the movie at Comic-Con. Since then, fan feedback on the film has been mixed, with some deriding it for being campy and exploitative and others lauding its supernatural premise and the fact that it features an army full of angels wielding automatic weaponry. Anyway, the clip below probably won’t do much to sway either side. If you’ll recall the trailer, this is part of the scene with the “creepy Grandma.” Enjoy.

Next on the agenda is a clip from a film that I’m really looking forward to, Daybreakers. Unlike some other movies on the market right now (ahem, Twilight), Daybreakers looks like the type of film that does vampires justice.

Daybreakers, which stars Ethan Hawke, Sam Neill, and Willem Dafoe, takes place in a world where vampires have become the dominant species on earth, and humans are hunted and harvested for their blood. The only problem for the vampires is that there are only so many humans left (an allusion to peak oil, no doubt) and in order to survive as a species, they must develop some kind of blood substitute. Hawke plays a vampire researcher who is working to develop the blood alternative, and, perhaps, save humanity along the way.

If you haven’t seen the most recent trailer from the film, check it out here. In the meantime, enjoy the clip below, which shows just how cranky vampires can get when they don’t get their steaming hot cup of blood in the morning.

Well, now that you’ve watched both clips, what do you think? Are you more or less excited to see either movie? Let us know in the comments.

Daybreakers opens January 10, 2010 with Legion following on January 22, 2010.

  1. Oh come on! The clip for legion isn’t exactly new! What an anti-climax!

As for the daybreakers, very cool indeed :) I like that it’s from the vampire’s perspective and for once, the humans are the ones running scared! Ok…not for once, but I just like how they’re showing us a society run by vampires and the problems they’re experiencing, a bit of normality rather than the overly violent (all of the time) cliche

  2. I agree, I’m really digging that clip from daybreakers, and i’m very excited for this film
however, is it just me or did the music choice in that scene seem out of place?

  3. Yea, I want to see them both…I’ll wait for dvd release though…

  4. Both of these look very cool. It’s definitely made me more interested

  5. Both of these look seriously cool, Bettany is a fantastic actor, but I will watch Legion on DVD. My only critisism is that it looks like an extended episode of Supernatural, and that isnt really a bad thing.

As for Daybreakers, Sam Neill is my favourite actor, I have seen all of his films, and will go see this on the big screen.
