clash of the titans sam worthington as perseus Clash of the Titans Trailer Is Here!

After seeing some low-resolution photos of what looked to be some awesome one-sheets for Louis Leterrier’s upcoming remake of Clash of the Titans, combined with its stellar cast, I couldn’t be more excited to see Sam Worthington lay down the pain as Perseus against Medusa and the Kraken.

Based on Greek Mythology, the Warner Bros. production of Clash of the Titans is a remake of the classic 1981 film, well-known for its practical stop-motion effects. We’ve been waiting patiently to get a real good look at the film and that time has finally come.

So without further ado, here is the first official teaser trailer for Clash of the Titans:

Check out the HD version at Yahoo.

The cast already had me in the theater as did director Louis Leterrier who did a fantastic job with The Incredible Hulk last year. It looks cool to me (although I miss the Ray Harryhausen practical effects and this is the opposite extreme) and I can’t wait for more. If you’re looking for more on Clash of the Titans, be sure to check out the set photos and behind-the-scenes footage we posted recently.

Here’s the synopsis if you’re curious about the story:

In Clash of the Titans, the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

Seeing and knowing Worthington as the star here alongside his role in this summer’s Terminator Salvation will help moviegoers will see him as a higher profile star which may help leading up to next month’s eagerly anticipated release of James Cameron’s Avatar.

What do you think of the trailer?

Clash of the Titans stars Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Danny Huston and Jason Flemyng. It’s set to hit theaters March 26, 2010.

  1. Being a fan of Epic films and Fantasy films,
this is trailer is well orchestrated to get you very excited for the film.
Yes it looks good, but all trailers look good right. So this does it’s job, WAAAAYYYY better than the Prince of Persia trailer.
    Two things:
    1) There is NO point now for having a God of War film because if made, those who do not know about the game will automatically associate that as a “copy” of this film. Now, I won’t, and neither with a majority here because I see God of War rip-off from this film with the choices they have made. From look to settings, mood, and atmosphere, but there is a majority that will judge the potential God of War film as a copy of this.
    2) I truly believe that Worthington will become the mega-star from this rather from Avatar. Avatar will do nothing for him career wise, this will.

  2. @SK-47

I agree with you, I am really looking forward to Titans, I have nothing against Worthington at all as he acted Bale off the screen in T4, this probably will make him a superstar. Avatar will do nothing for the careers of anyone involved, remember it has to make back nearly three times its budget to be a commercial success, and thats not going to happen in a trillion years.

  3. Looks AWESOME!!! Now anyone heard of a classic 60′s movie titled “Whom the gods wish to destroy?” My pops told me about that movie and its really cool when he told me the story. It was a German movie (subtitled)i think..That needs to be rebooted i think..Y’all know or heard anything about this classic movie here at Screen Rant??

  4. @DrSamBeckett

Yep, all the actors are really filler for the CGI and 3D technology. Much like Jurassic Park, Sam Neil, Laura Dern and Goldblum really were filler for the Dinos.
    Does anyone remeber those kids?
Much like what Conan did for Arnold and what Gladiator did for Russell Crowe, this film will do for Sam.

  5. @ Andy S & Rob Keyes

I’ve seen Trans Siberian Orchestra 3 times already. They Rock!!!

I hope Conan will look this good. Fantasy movies with todays tech… I can’t wait what other fantasy movies they plan to make…

I hope it kills at the Box-office.

  6. Nope. Where is Calibos? The Golden Owl? Pegasus? Medusa? Come on man… the feeling of Clash of the Titans is missing. This looks like Troy or 300.

  7. Medusa is in there eddieomaha, look again. I’m hoping all the other characters are there too.

  8. @ eddieomaha

Pegasus was involved in one of the posters. They’re not going to show everything in a teaser trailer people.

  9. I love the original and so I’m hoping that they will keep the story the same (or at least similar) and since Liam Neeson is in it it already a 3/5 before I’ve already ssen it :D

  10. I’m on this like white on rice. Can’t wait!

There were some quick shots of a guy who looked a bit disfigured. I assumed that was Calibos.

  11. Was Ralph Fiennes in this trailer?

  12. FANTASTIC! Now they need to do some SINBAD films. Hopefully that CONAN movie they say they’re gonna make will look this good too!
Ya know what? Neeson would make a good CONAN- he has some size to him and he’s not a gym rat. He’d be a natural. Plus…critics would take the film seriously too.
But CLASH looks like it’s going to be great!

  13. if there are any movies out there that need to be remade clash would be one of them. with the exception of medusa it wasnt some of harryhausens best work. when it first came out we all thought it was “totally awesome”.. but when you grow up and look back at it you realise that it was really sub sub par (although it remains a bit of a cult classic)not unlike knight rider.
the only problem that i can see with the trailer is that it looks just like everything else.. there seems to be a very definite standard visual/audio formula bubbling up from the cauldrons of the blind hollywood machine. originality, as ever, is a hard commodity to come by in hollyweird. take it from the original clash of the titans: fx can only take a movie so far.. at some point the people will cry out for a return to stronger focus on writing/story and especially acting.
i guess im officially an old fogey.. you crazy kids get off my lawn and stop wackin off in my tool shed!!!

  14. I am so going to see this in the theater…..loved the music….but hey, that me :)

  15. SK-47 says: “There is NO point now for having a God of War film because if made, those who do not know about the game will automatically associate that as a “copy” of this film.”

A movie about Ares, the Greek god of war might be seen as going hand in hand with this one About Perseus.

I guess it’s a race if someone with enough clout is in each camp. I would think marketing would clear up any confusion about the issues. Surely all over the web and very likely the entertainment TV news programs as well.

I could see a certain level of cross pollination if a movie about the game gets made.

  16. Holy Crap! An amazing piece! ( BTW Trans Siberians’s LD really blows, he personally ruined the entire show for me last year. He blew his all wad in the first song and kept repeating the same looks over and over! AAAARRRGGGHHH!)And remember, there are two versions touring.

  17. It did look like an over-budgeted(??) music video, but as a movie.

Am I the only one saying? ehhh!

  18. movie going to be great we need a god greek mythology kick @ss film

  19. This trailer makes the 1981 version look gay. But the 1981 version was awesome.

  20. @the old man,
sure marketing might, and I say might differentiate both properties but lets look at it this way.
God of War, as per what creator David Jaffe stated, is if you take Greek Mythology and put in a heavy influx of Heavy Metal comics.
    Adult, Hardcore, Gory, and Sex.
Now, I assume you and everyone here has played the game. You know how the game looks aesthetically from the costume designs to even the levels.
I bet you that Louis Leterrier’s major influence is God of War, even if he says no, you know it is!
When I watch this trailer all that comes into mind is God of War. So really, what is the point?
I guess to make money but thats for the proudcer’s sake to find a cash cow. Me, I see no point. UNLESS, they get Mel GIbson to direct God of War. NOW that would be something!

  21. WOOOOOOooooo!

Whoever cut that trailer did an incredible job.

Let us pray that the trailer is only that and not a summary of the only good bits (I hate it when that happens in a film).

    SOundtrack sounds pretty intense too!

  22. if sams good in these two movies, avatar and titans..

    dude should play capt america.

  23. I agree with you there rich, I was thinking the same thing but I bet after this movie and grown up Smurfs AVATAR, he’s gonna be approached with the role to Captain America. Great call there though…

  24. @bluecollar

Have to finally agree with you there. That is the thing that makes this trailer work in my opinion is how perfectly cut the footage is to the music.

  25. @Rob and Manowar…

Going to see TSO next month for the first time. I am pretty psyched!!

  26. What! another G.I.Joe all over again :(

  27. Whats the deal with all the negativity towards the GI JOe film? This movie has gotten a lot of grief and yet the numbers show a very different story.

    GI Joe STATS:
    ————-
    IN RELEASE(at Theatres): 91 days / 13 Weeks
    PRODUCTION BUDGET: $175 MILLION (est.)
    DOMESTIC/INTERNATIONAL GROSS: 150/151 Million
    TOTAL GROSS: $301 Million

I got news for those who hate on this film, these are very good numbers for a film. It may not have had as big a weekly numbers the first few weeks as other major Summer releases but it had staying power. 13 weeks (almost 3 months) is not a short period in the worl of movies. Sure there are longer releases like DARK KNIGHT or IRON MAN but those are also major hits and so comparing GI JOe to these and having GI JOe come in under these is by no means an insult.

You may not like GI Joe but enough people did to not only ensure it made money but that it made enough to guarantee a sequel and I bet we will see that sequel before the end of 2012 (assuming we haven’t seen armageddon by then).

  28. If I am correct, (and I may not be)the music sounds to me like
The Bird and The Worm by The Used. IF it is, then it is a bit fitting, folks. As the lyrics are “All alone he turns to stone”.
    Get it? :)
