1981 was a very good year. We had the first De Lorean automobile (think Back to the Future) and MTV was launched (remember when it actually played music videos?). And Ms. Gallagher introduced our class to “Greek Mythology.” Why was she introducing her class to something “new” so close to the end of the school year? Because of a new movie launched back then called Clash of the Titans.

Well there’s a new version coming out next March and we have a new image from the remake for you below.

An outstretched hand appears to be summoning “something”. What could it be. In the background the group watches in silent awe – a mix of anticipation and required patience.

My father bought us tickets to the original back in ’81 and we beheld the power, temptation and fury of the gods as well as some of the most cutting-edge special effects a father and son had ever seen (at the time).

How do you think Clash of the Titans is shaping up based on what we’ve seen so far?

  1. As of right now im more excited about this movie than any others of 2010. Of course Iron Man 2 but i think this movie is going to be alot of fun, the trailer is just epic.

  2. Gosh, I remember our class watching that film when I was still in school way back when. I really liked it at the time. I hope I enjoy the new one as well.

  3. Glad you both enjoyed the post. Keep the comments coming. Have a great evening.

  4. I remember seeing the original “clash” at the drive-in with my pops. I hope this new rendition is just as fun as the classic and in my opinion it appears to be headed in that direction. Master a good “american” (english) accent and Sam has my vote for Captain America.

  5. Adding scenes and possibly 3D worries me that they think the movie isn’t all that good.

  6. AH!!!

this is going to be great

    cant wait

  7. I remember the original. The Medusa scene is the most memorable scene in my opinion. I still remember that snake woman pushing herself around with her tail and the sound of her rattler as she searched for her next target…

Sam Worthington looks pretty bad ass, it looks awesome.

  8. My problem is this, Worthington’s hair is too short! I always imagined everyone had long hair back then!

  9. I thought the same thing with regard to the short hair. Mainly because I figured the did not have scissors back then. But a sharp dagger could probably do the same thing.

But he’s is a warrior/fighter. As a warrior he may want it short. If it’s flying around it would obstruct his view in combat. It could also be grabbed by his opponent to pull him down or off balance.

  10. That is very true, and I agree, I just cant shake free the image that he should have long hair.

Not that important, the movie looks pretty good, and although I usually steer clear of remakes, this one gave me chills when I saw the trailer on the big screen the other day.

Hopefully this will be the film that convinces me that Worthington is a real talent.

  11. I remember watching this movie in elementary school when the gifted program did their mythology unit. We got to dress up like our favorite Greek myth (I was Pan the little goat man) and we ate Greek food and watched “Clash of the Titans”. We had to close our eyes during the nudity parts because if we didn’t we’d get detention haha but anyway… That’s all I remember of watching the original and I remember liking it. I had a big obsession with Greek myths afterward, so hopefully this version will make me feel the same way.
