Chuck vs. The House M.D.

With Chuck getting the go-ahead/green light from NBC to air at an earlier date than originally planned,  it’s looking like the show might be considered a threat to other networks.

Fox has decided to air what they’re calling an original episode of House M.D. a full two weeks earlier than anticipated.  To be more specific, Fox will be airing House M.D. at the same time that Chuck’s first episode (not premiere) is slated to air.

Chuck’s premiere is on Sunday January 10th, and then the season kicks in on its regular time slot on Monday.

It seems like Fox is either super insecure about some threat that Chuck represents or just plain old knows that House M.D. is going to trounce it in the ratings.

That kind of sucks for Chuck and its fans.  We’ve been struggling with the show getting traction in the eyes of the net execs and then suddenly it had a chance.  Now this?

Eh, I love House M.D. so I’m not hurting.  But this may seem like yet one more challenge to the Chuck!

  1. Well I long ago lost interest in House, but it’s good to know that Chuck is back. Of course with his reprogramming he’ll be far more use in a fight than he was before.

  2. I love them both, but if I had to choose, it’s “Chuck.” Good thing I’ve got a DVR!

  3. House is bad ass, lol. Whack Chuck with your cane you cynical bastard!! lol

  4. Hey Bruce, just curious, but did you intentionally put “The House?” Because it’s just House… Not sure if you were like sayind Chuck vs the house like visitors vs home or something…

  5. I can’t stand House. Actually, I’m sick of ALL medical dramas. Enough already. I hope that Chuck kicks the feeble bastards ass!! 😛

  6. This has always been the problem with Chuck’s ratings – it is scheduled directly against House. I have always thought if they would move it to a different time, it would do significantly better.

  7. No way I’m going to watch Chuck instead of House… it’s just not going to happen.

  8. No way I’m going to watch House instead of Chuck… it’s just not going to happen.

    Viva La Nerdulation!

  9. I think everyone knows that chuck can’t really compete with house, but I suppose they’re hoping that chuck will be able to hold its own. This also means that heroes will be moving times and that should give them a chance to get more viewers if they can continue on from what has been a good season so far. I like both house and chuck – but I’m going to stick with chuck for now and catch house 8 stupid days later on-line. I should buy a dvr

  10. No way I’m going to watch Chuck instead of House… it’s just not going to happen.

    Majority wins. 😛

  11. House: Patient comes in with weird symptoms, House gets all mean, crotchety and saracastic, House cures the patient.

There, I just explained every episode of House. 😛

  12. what you all say doesn’t really matter. The ratings speak for themselves. and obviously House is winning this battle.

  13. Yes House is basically the same after each episode yet 10+ million people watch. Ratings don’t lie.

  14. Ratings might not lie, Mr. Anonymous, but just because a show has great ratings doesn’t make it good. For my evidence I give you American Idol. Super high ratings, God awful show.

  15. Hey atleast House wins awards.

  16. house should do cuddy, then the show would be over

  17. Well, considering that House is a show about a doctor that works in diagnostic medicine, it would be very strange if every episode didn’t turn out that way… If House starts to do what other shows always start to do and start going way off course in some 90210 soap and ignore the patient with weird symptoms part, I will stop watching it. Right now they have the soapy stuff mixed in with the cool patient diagnosis stuff, and that’s how they can win over audiences from different genre’s. Plus, the reason the show works is the quality of the acting and writing, when you listen to a lot of the medical lingo and descriptions of conditions, symptoms, and possible diagnosis’s, it’s actually fairly accurate.

I’m sorry, but the acting in Chuck is pretty poor, the show is amusing at best, but I think it’s just a bit too cheesy for some people to take seriously. Not saying it’s not a good show for people who enjoy it, but I can see how it has a more limited viewer appeal compared to House.

  18. Ken!

The title of the article is alone the lines of titles for episodes of CHUCK. It’s always Chuck vs ‘Something’ and I think ‘the’ just went in there better.

Sorry if I hurt your brain. I was being all snarky and stuff.

  19. LOL, I just wasn’t sure if you did it intentionally or what. But it does have that casino sound, You versus the house, lol.

  20. Indeed it does Ken!

  21. CHUCK over House… i like house but it got boring, not as many funny bits as the earlier season… Hugh Laurie amazing actor, he should come as guest on CHUCK sometime..

  22. Here’s the reason it can work just a little bit better to watch House. Chuck can be found online easily. House, not so much. Yes, it runs on USA plenty, but good luck trying to find the exact episode. Why USA has not simply reran Monday night’s episode at, say, 11pm the same night is beyond me.

    • @Nancy

Once chuck dies, it won’t be found online as easily as House. Chuck needs the ratings to survive, House doesn’t.

  23. House M.D. was a great show, but the last season, season 7 was pretty bad. Hopefully they fire those writers and get the ones from earlier seasons to write season 8.
