With Chuck consistently pulling in the ratings (unlike Heroes), they’ve decided to add a time traveling mad scientist to the team with Christopher Lloyd as he makes his way back to the network television acting scene. Lloyd will be brought in as Chuck’s therapist, when it seems that the spy business is becoming a little too stressful for Mr. Bartowski.
The news of Lloyd’s casting broke via show creator Josh Schwartz’s twitter,
Last CHUCK b4 Olympics. Here’s some scoop: Christopher Lloyd to guest star in ep 16! Back 2 The Future a huge CHUCK influence!!
While I’m sure that Christopher Lloyd’s performance will be wonderful, I’m curious whether it’ll be more serious than humorous. With such a comedic actor in the role, let’s hope they’ll cut back the seriousness a little.
Nothing has been said about whether he’ll remain on the series or if it’s just for a couple of episodes. With Chuck having to cut its production budget for the third season, I couldn’t imagine that they can afford to bring on another weekly character, but who knows.
Now on to some finale news: NBC has set the season finale of Chuck for May 24th. It will be presented as a two-hour episode starting at 8PM. With the way NBC has been tanking, I wondering if this means that Chuck will have a better chance at getting picked up for a fourth season.
What do you think about Doc Brown heading to the Nerd Herd? Have you been enjoying this season of Chuck? Do you think it’ll be back next year?
With Chuck taking a break for the Winter Olympics, make note to catch its return on March 1st, 2010.
