No, it’s the whole persona of Riddick. He has things to be guilty for, exactly what, has to be worked out for sure. But I think that one scene breaks him down and recasts him. It would make for interesting story to see the process that earlier made him. Of course he talks some to the Imam in “Pitch Black” about that…

Its been a while since I last viewed PITCH BLACK but I do have it on HD Disc now so I have an incentive to watch it again and soon. I’m assuming the sceene you reference has Riddick basically admitting he killed someone. That however isn’t a story breaker. Hollywood has never let continuity stop a good sequel/prequel/spinoff.

BlueCollar what do you think about Riddick’s reaction back in “Pitch Black,” where Fry ended up dying in his place just prior to escape from the planet? What you speculate about his innocence isn’t impossible, but that scene sure leaves a-lot to speculate about. His conscience, his past and the meaning of his life. I imagine that event hit him harder than any event he had endured up to that point. That event changed him. They could make or break this franchise with what they do next. It can sure make for some great conversations.

Big gambles for sure! I hope they pour enough blood, sweat, and heart into it to make us proud to be fans of the franchise, no matter what they decide to put in the story…

Great ideas on how to take the Chronicles series to its next release. Personally they’d do well to bring on a John Faverau like director and a solid writer who has proven sucess in this genre and have them work to put out something really solid. Vin hasn’t had many sucesses lately and while FAST & FURIOUS was good (IMHO) and did well financially I believe that franchise has run it’s limited course where as Chronicles has far more potential and therefore possible sequels or prequels.

What to do next? I’d like to see an orgin like story or at least something pre PITCH BLACK that at least includes (perhaps in flashbacks) some story on how Riddick became the outlaw he is. It would also be great to see it shown as his beeing a framed or wrongfully accussed guy who by his nature is a loner and therefore come across as being guoty even if he isn’t. know what I mean?

I’d also like to see Riddick being chased across the wide open sapce vy the same Bounty Hunter who was in Pitch Black. Better yet, that Bounty Hunters now dead partner who Riddick (we find out later) didn’t kill but actually was unable to save but this other bounty hunter is convinced Riddick killed his partner. The classic “You killed my partner and so now i’m gonna kill you” story line.

So Ogb, the game is primarily in 3rd person? The first game allowed both, without cheats.

This is one franchise I dare say most of us like. Their’s no denying that the Necromonger story line is worthy of pursuit. It just seems to me that a sequel to that story right now would need to be at least as well fronted as the last one. That’s not impossible or even unlikely but it would be a hard act to follow. Quite frankly I would rather like to see the series play out further. I’m confident that the creative team can take it interesting and exciting places. I’m hoping that they build on the good they’ve already done. I like it that they used rare ideas for races like the slightly prescient Elementals. What would everyone like to see, a story just prior to Imam, Jack and Riddick’s breakup? A story right after they breakup and go their separate ways, perhaps tell the story how Riddick ends up on UV VI? Something else entirely, say a no questions no answers actioner perhaps fleshing out Riddick’s universe more? More races, planets what kind of governments exist those things?

I liked both of the Riddick films, and even the animated one in between the two live action films.

Easily Vin Diesel’s best role. Iron Giant was a close second.

Pitch Black was great but Chronicles was epic, much better… (IMO)

This is good news. I would like another Chronicles film and I also agree with the consensus here that it should be a smaller, stand-alone story. I vastly preferred Pitch Black to it’s sequel, but I still enjoyed the sequel. I think part of it was the Pitch Black was an extremely original idea (like The Matrix) and the sequel just “Hollywooded” it up (like The Matrix sequels). This sequel NEEDS to be rated-R and return to it’s roots.

Well John “Kahless” I think many fans would, but being a chronicle allows more diversity and now is a good time to use it. It would give maximum possibility to the story your talking about too, rather than driving it into a trap where Riddick must confront the realities of the underverse, and possibly have an entire society strapped around him that can’t be shed. I think the story your talking about should be far more lavish than this team should attempt right now too.

Well, I know a lot of people don’t want the next film to follow the last but I would still want to know what happened after Riddick became emperor. I would assume he wouldn’t want it but I would want to see what he does, maybe give it to Karl Urban’s character. A prequel would be something I would be interested in because I don’t know exactly what happened to his people and how he got captured in PB.
