Chris Pratt has only made one official appearance as Star-Lord, but he is already hoping to extend his Marvel contract beyond its current end. Pratt made his debut in Guardians of the Galaxy and quickly became a fan-favorite and breakout Hollywood star. He is set to make his second appearance in a few weeks when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters, but his future appearances have already been locked down as well.

Pratt and the rest of his fellow Guardians will appear in Avengers: Infinity War and the fourth and currently Untitled Avengers film, before heading back to their comfort zones with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. With Vol. 3 said to be the end of this iteration of the team, it was plausible that this could be Pratt's final appearance, but he doesn't think or want that to be the case.

/Film spoke to Pratt about the upcoming sequel, but also asked him about his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While he would not confirm when his current contract will end, he makes it clear that Vol. 3 will hardly be his final appearance if he has it his way.

I’ll tell you, as much as I love Marvel, it doesn’t matter how many I have contracted, because I’m going to continue to work with them.

I want to – I love working with them. I’m going to continue to work with them whether they like it or not. Even if they write me out, I’m going to show up on set and be like, ‘Hey, man!’ They’re done. They don’t get to shake me.

While it is unclear if Pratt's hopes are within Marvel Studios' plans, if he continues to express a desire to stick around, it would be awfully surprising to see Marvel send him packing. Even if some of the other Guardians retire or die by the end of Vol. 3, Star-Lord is their leader and Pratt wants to keep it that way for the foreseeable future. With Gunn appearing to take on a larger role in building the Marvel Cosmic Universe, keeping Star-Lord around for that makes a lot of sense.

This also just goes to show not only how much fun Pratt is having in the role, but also his appreciation for this opportunity. Star-Lord is the role after all that has given him the chance to become Hollywood's next star and land projects like The Magnificent SevenJurassic World, or Passengers. He clearly has a love for Marvel and enjoys making these movies, so it is not a surprise to hear him say he doesn't want to leave anytime soon.

Just recently, he told us about his hopes for Star-Lord as he moves into Phase 4 and beyond. Pratt has many ideas for the character's future and should have the chance to see some of these come to fruition if his contract is extended. Marvel has continued to extend contracts of other Marvel stars, and if Pratt is eager to continue on for another trilogy, a standalone, or future Avengers films, they should be quick to get that deal done.
