This past weekend at the D23 Expo, Hasbro introduced the Black Panther figure from the Marvel Legends 12-Inch Series, ahead of the Marvel Cinematic Universe film's release next February.

With most of the Disney news that came from last weekend's D23 having to do with trailer reveals, casting announcements, and theme park attractions, some of the smaller figures and reveals could have fallen through the wayside. In particular, the various types of merchandise that were unveiled from Disney, Lucasfilm and Marvel properties are exciting to see, giving the individuals who are interested in collecting these items for their shelves. With Black Panther on the way next year, Chadwick Boseman's King of Wakanda was one of the big heroes on display at D23, so naturally he has his own figure to match it.

Unveiled by Hasbro as the latest in the Marvel Legends Series, the Black Panther comes equipped in his Vibranium suit, with the ability to remove his mask and show T'Challa's heroic stare. The figure will go on sale during the Spring of 2018, with Black Panther being released in February. The retail price for the special item will be $49.99 and is listed for ages 4 and up. It will be available in most major retail stores like Wal-Mart and Target and also at the Hasbro Toy Shop online.

The Marvel Legends series was initially introduced in 2002 by manufacturer Toy Biz. The line was taken over in 2006 by Hasbro, which has been producing them ever since. There are dozens of variations for the different figures of the Avengers characters, ranging from four inch to twelve inch figures, with six and eight inch ones in between them. They are among the most popular toy lines available for the Marvel characters, and with Black Panther finally getting his own live-action movie this next year, it was fitting that he should get his own movie-based action figure now.

The trailer for Black Panther set the internet on fire when it was released in June - and with San Diego Comic-Con coming this weekend, it would be surprising if the people going to that convention didn't get another good look at the film. If Ryan Coogler's superhero film continues to generate good buzz, then the ceiling is high for how much these figures can sell for Hasbro. Even at a steep price, the intricate design and look of the figure makes it a worthy item for fans of Marvel and the Black Panther solo movie.
