Who Should Play Catwoman? (Charlize Theron Shows Interest)

This just in! Charlize Theron wouldn’t mind playing Catwoman in the sequel to the second highest grossing film of all time, The Dark Knight. Well that entire last sentence would qualify for a big, fat “DUH!” Can you tell me one person that wouldn’t say “Yes” to star in a billion dollar franchise if asked? Megan Fox was recently rumored to be playing the feminine milk-drinking feline villain a few weeks ago but Warner Bros. execs were quick to shoot that down. It’s not a direct quote but I think the press release said something like, “Um, Hell No!”
During an STV interview that probably only consisted of some guy with a mini-voice recorder stalking her as she shopped for groceries, Theron said this:
“It’s news to me, but that’s kick-ass news. I like that… I think that what has happened to that franchise is amazing, and director Chris Nolan is a genius. So I would be an idiot to not consider that.”
Yes you would Ms. Theron; you would “be an idiot” to not consider being in Christopher Nolan’s film. The problem is that besides Megan “Jennifer’s Body Sucked” Fox, Angelina Jolie and Rachel Weisz have all been rumored to be slinking into the tight ripped leather pants and purr it up with Bruce Wayne. I’m almost positive that Theron is not the only woman in Hollywood that is lining up to be in the successful, revitalized Batman franchise.
Last December, we reported that Nolan planned on returning and there were rumors (ah, rumors) that Catwoman might be brought into the story. That makes sense because Bruce Wayne’s love interest was killed off at the end of The Dark Knight. We’ve already talked about the possibility of seeing Aaron Eckhart returning as Two Face and although we have discussed it, no official word has come down the return of The Joker.
If Theron does snag the role she will be following the likes of Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, Eartha Kitt and Michelle Pfeiffer. I know what you are thinking “Paul, you left out Halle Berry as Catwoman.” No! No I didn’t. That horrible excuse for an interpretation of Catwoman doesn’t deserve a mention.
We here at Screen Rant have been doing a lot speculating lately on what characters should be in up coming comic movies and the actors we think should play them. X-Men: First Class, Sinestro from Green Lantern, Fantastic Four reboot and more recently Captain America have all been popular areas for discussion. So let’s do the same thing for Catwoman.
Charlize Theron (Aeon Flux), Angelina Jolie (Tomb Raider),Rachel Weisz (The Mummy) and Rhona Mitra (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) are all good choices (anyone notice I left out Megan Fox as a good choice?) but I’d rather see someone with much less exposure in the movie world. Not just bodily exposure (we’ve seen at least three of them topless or nude before) but also film exposure because all four have an extremely varied background in film and have been involved with at least one successful action film or franchise.
Of the four I just listed, Rhona Mitra is the only one I would consider for the role but let me give you the actress I would really like to see play Catwoman: Rosario Dawson. I think it would be nice to see the next Catwoman follow in actress Eartha Kitt’s shoes and be played by a black actress (I still refuse to acknowledge Halle Berry as an actress who played Catwoman). Rosario Dawson would be a solid choice because she’s attractive, can act and has done action films – the fact that she would look fantastic in leather doesn’t hurt either. She already has a pretty decent repertoire ranging from Sin City and Descent to Seven Pounds and the upcoming Unstoppable with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine. If someone mentions Pluto Nash I will ignore you because I blame that failure on Eddie Murphy and not her.

I’d like to see Catwoman in the next film. I’m aware that a flamboyant cat burglar is not exactly the same class of threat Nolan’s batman has faced so far, but variety is the spice of Batman movies. Unless she were extensively reimagined (which is entirely possible) she wouldn’t work as the primary villain, but that’s okay; there is room for multiple supporting characters in these films. I want the Riddler or Talia for the main villain.
Catwoman should definitely NOT appear in the next movie. “Selena Kyle”, however, should appear.
i Think Halle Berry should play Catwomen she did a great job in the movie if Halle Berry cant do it then Megan Fox, Angeline Jolie or Rosario Dawson should play catwoman. WE Need a African American Superhereo.
Let’s leave Catwoman alone for a while please. There are other femme fatales in Batman’s rogues gallery, we need to see a NEW female character brought to life on the big screen in a Batman movie. The perfect character to bring to Batman 3 is Talia Al’Ghul, Ras Al’Ghul’s daughter. Give Catwoman a rest please.
Although I do think that rosario Dawson would be the best choice.
Charlize Theron? Hm. Don’t know. I guess she can act. If any director/writer can pull this off after the fiasco of the last Catwoman film, I think he could make it cool and believable.
I would try Michelle Monaghan or Anna Torv, or just Theron as Selina Kyle, no transformation to the suit in B3
Okay seriously people? Megan Fox in second place? Have you actually read the comics or are you all just voting for who you would like to have sex with?
Catwoman is the third most popular Batman character(After Batman and the Joker) so it would be pretty surprising if Nolan never used her.
This movie is gonna need a love interest(if the past flicks are anything to go by) and you cannot do better than Selina Kyle. Nolan has done a great job with these films and after that atrocious Halle Berry movie something needs to be done to bring respect back to the character and the name.

I question all of these people who all of a sudden want to play a batman character. Where were all of these actors and actresses back when Batman Begins came out? Dark Knight made a Billion Dollars, Now everyone wants a piece of the pie. Its disgusting. If I was Nolan and anyone dared opened their face to say any of this nonsense I will call a Press Conference and start taking people out one by one on Live Television. and to Ms Theron. You didnt want to play Catwoman way back then so please keep your mouth shut. Thank you

I think they should film Batman 3 and 4(if there is one) together cuz bale`s getting pretty old. Sorry, but both the Batman films failed like Superman returns.

Or did I forget that actors are expected to act whatever age the script asks them to be?
actually i`m afraid he is, 35, 36, 37, maybe not too old, but 38, yeah that`s too old, how old was bats in the comics? I don`t think a 38-40 year old Bruce Wayne fits the tight costume as well as the chest of the 35-36 year old. He would`ve been perfect as Batman if he was a year younger, it sucks when you see a guy who looks perfect in the stylized uniform but is too old to have the role, just like Tobey Maguire. It makes me really mad that actors can`t stay young enough to play my favorite superheroes.
You guys are crazy talking about age. Batman is human, not otherworldly like Superman. He is really just Bruce Wayne the human being. It would be strange if the hero DIDN’T age. Besides, Bale has about 10 years worth of Batmans left in him, and another 10 years training another Batman to take his place. Remember, male actors play up to 10 years behind (more in some cases), thus, a 37 year-old Bale is really a 27 year-old Bruce Wayne/Batman.

If you think that a 38 year old man can’t have a body like a 35 year old man than you have no clue what you are talking about. There are plenty of 50 year old men that have more defined bodies than 35 year old men. It’s called exercise and training. Look it up in the dictionary.

I think charlize theron should be catwoman in batman 3 she is a very good actress and might have a connection onscreen with cristean bale and also she looks like a catwoman and she is also around cristean bale’s age.
William Fichtner for the Riddler…he was the bank manager the Joker made “stranger” at the beginning of TDK. It just makes sense that the guy would become a riddling lunatic.

Jessica Abla? Please get someone who can ACT. Shes an actress, but she is one of the worst actressed out there. I’ll even go so far as to say shes worse than Megan Fox, but unlike Fox, Alba is actually attractive.

I agree. I think Rosario would make a kick-ass Catwoman. But I believe that the actress who will ultimately win the role will be Oscar winner Marion Cotillard. She’s appropriately dark and exotic, utterly feminine with a touch of menance and has already been noticed by Nolan (she’s co-starring in is latest movie). Cotillard has a none-too subtle 40′s noirish vibe to her and I think that is what is needed for the purrfect Catwoman.
