Charlie has finally found his angels. According to an exclusive report from TVLine, Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor are close to inking deals to join the cast of ABC’s Charlie’s Angels remake. Kelly and Taylor will join Annie Ilonzeh (General Hospital), who was previously cast for the show.

Alongside Ilonzeh, who plays tough ex-cop and martial arts expert, Kate, Taylor will play the role of Abby, “the youngest and sassiest of the Angels.” Abby is also the “beautiful and privileged daughter of a notorious Wall Street crook,” and “an expert con artist herself, as well as a Krav Maga expert.”

Kelly’s role is less clear at this point. Producers are currently reworking the part, which was originally a character named Marisa. In the most recent breakdown, “Marisa” was described “as a former U.S. Marine, a weapons expert trained in all forms of hand-to-hand combat, and a neat freak.”

We haven’t heard who’ll be playing Bosley in this reboot of the popular franchise, but we did report last week that actor Robert Wagner was cast as the voice of Charlie.

Minka Kelly should be familiar to regular TV watchers. In recent years, Kelly has starred on Friday Night Lights and she is currently in a recurring role on the NBC show Parenthood. Fans will likely recognize Rachael Taylor for her role as Australian computer expert Maggie in Transformers.

The New Angels: Taylor, Kelly and Ilonzeh.

I wasn’t alive for the original Charlie’s Angels TV show, and I didn’t care much for either of the modern feature film adaptations, so I can’t say I’m particularly excited for this show. Still, anytime you can get three beautiful women kicking ass together, you’ve pretty much got to call that a win.

At the very least, Charlie’s Angels has a solid writing team in place. Al Gough and Miles Millar, who worked together on the first eight seasons of Smallville, were contracted to write the show’s pilot episode.

Look for Charlie’s Angels to hit the small screen in 2012.
