Charlie Sheen Sought for ‘Entourage’ Season 8 Guest Spot

Having been very celebrity-friendly for the past seven seasons, HBO sitcom Entourage is looking to grab one more big name before bowing out after season 8 – Charlie Sheen.

Even though the tiger-blood-fueled media frenzy surrounding Sheen’s exit from Two and a Half Men has cooled since the launch of his Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option Tour, HBO and Entourage creator Doug Ellin thinks the embattled actor would be a great addition to their line up of guest stars.

Perhaps the interest in Sheen comes as a thank you, of sorts, as last season’s storyline seemed to have been loosely based on Sheen’s past (and current) foibles. During season 7, fictional leading man Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) – while shacking up with adult entertainer Sasha Grey – has a bout with drug addiction, which eventually finds the actor in legal trouble. Whether the parallels between Sheen and Chase are deliberate – or a fortunate coincidence – it’s hard to imagine Sheen wouldn’t be interested in exploiting his newfound notoriety just a bit further.

Whatever the connection, Ellin seems adamant about getting Sheen to appear on his show, and remains cautiously optimistic that a deal can be worked out. According to TV Guide, Ellin is still working on getting in touch with the actor.

“I called his manager and was told maybe I’d get him. But I’m still waiting for Charlie to call me back. I’d come up with something good.”

However, as the show is entering its final month of shooting, timing may play as much of a factor as Sheen’s interest. Filming on Entourage is scheduled to be complete by mid-June and the show already has a huge assortment of talent like Sheen’s fellow CBS sitcom star Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory) lined up for guest spots.

Galecki is scheduled to play himself in the last eight episodes of the series as a new client for Eric (Kevin Connolly) and his partner Scott, played by Hawaii Five-0’s Scott Caan. Other names dropping by include Christian Slater, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeria of the New York Yankees, as wells as Knicks players Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire – though their appearances will likely just be cameos.

The final season of Entourage will air on HBO beginning June 24.
