Despite taking home the Mirror Ball Trophy, Charli D’Amelio’s Dancing With The Stars win was anti-climatic. The 18-year-old Tik Tok star was partnered with pro dancer Mark Ballas for DWTS season 31 of the dancing competition. This was Mark’s first season back in the ballroom after a five-year hiatus.

While there is no doubt she is an impressive dancer, Charli also had dance experience prior to DWTS. This has happened in the past with contestants such as DWTS season 30’s runner-up Jojo Siwa; however, it always causes quite a controversy among viewers. Many believe it is not fair for stars with experience in dancing to compete against others who have never danced before. Especially when the star dominates the leaderboard all season long, as Charli did. Charli and Mark placed in first place nearly every week of the competition. Although she had some close competitors, such as Wayne Brady and Gabby Windey, Charli almost always managed to come out on top.

Charli & Mark’s DWTS Win Was Predictable All Season Long

DWTS' Charli D'Amelio & Mark Ballas

Since Charli and Mark were at the top of the leaderboard nearly every week, it was no surprise when they would survive eliminations. Each week's survival brought them to the finale night, where they had one last chance at the Mirror Ball Trophy. Again, as DWTS viewers seemingly predicted, Charli and Mark scored two perfect scores for their last dances in the ballroom. Ultimately it was no surprise when Charli and Mark won DWTS season 31 and took home the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy as they dominated the competition all season long. The predictability of their win is what made the final episode so anti-climatic.

Although Charli impressed the judges and viewers at home all season long, the DWTS season 31 runner-up put up a good fight. Gabby, from The Bachelorette season 19, was partnered with pro dancer Val Chmerkovskiy. The two had an instant chemistry which made their performances even more enjoyable to watch. Even though she was a cheerleader for the Denver Broncos, Gabby has no real dance experience and put in the extra effort in rehearsals each week to guarantee a spot in the finale. Although she was not always at the top of the leaderboard like Charli was, Gabby and Val, who were perfect DWTS partners, did find themselves in the top three on numerous occasions. They, too, earned two perfect scores during the finale. Despite not taking home the win, Gabby truly enjoyed her DWTS experience.

While some may argue that it was not fair for Charli to be competing on DWTS in the first place, there is no doubt she earned her Mirror Ball Trophy win. Some steps and techniques were easier for her than others, but she still put in the same amount of hard work and dedication this season. Congratulations to Charli and Mark on becoming the Dancing With The Stars season 31 champs.
