I have a lot of respect for Phoenix as an artist… but the video of him rapping.. COME ON. It sounds like something Bam Margera did all drugged out… you have the money and the fame and somebody will listen to you no matter how bad it is…. but please… Joaquin go back to acting!!!

Why do actors think they have to do it all…Joaquin Phoenix needs to stop surrounding himself with sycophants, pull his head from his arse and stop throwing away his career as a great actor. These people should not be allowed to get away with this type of obsequious behavior…Probably allowing alcohol to cloud his judgement and run his life right now..Your performance in Walk the Line was fantastic but this just reeks of over-inflated ego…

God, he’s like Val Kilmer playing Jim Morrison in that interview. There’s a whiff of Spinal Tap about this. If not, there’s a stench coming off his rapping, that’s for certain. Even worse than Juliette Lewis’s dirgelike pub rock nonsense, bless her. He can’t lay claim to any kind of authenticity until he’s been roundly bottled offstage like Keanu was with his lot Dogstar at either Glastonbury or the Reading festival, I forget which.

I think he’s doing it all for the sake of this “documentary.” Think about it, the abrupt announcement for publicity, the announcement that it will be rap, for more publicity, and then performances for the sake of the camera. If he would have picked some other type of music, it might not be as “crazy” and you wouldn’t have written this blog, same with other sites, meaning less publicity.

That’s my hypothesis…

My initial reaction was “Really?” I could understand if he was pursuing something with a guitar and singing. Now that I hear he’s going to rap it becomes “REALLY!?!?!” How could such a talented actor really give up what he is amazing at to pursue a music career in a genre that has never really produced a serious white performer other than Eminem (who is almost too tongue in cheek to consider “serious”). I hope he comes to his senses and does what he does best: act.
