As we countdown the last few days before the start of Comic-Con 2010, we have some early artwork from two of the event’s headline titles – Marvel’s upcoming movie adaptations of Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor.
Evans spoke out about Captain America’s new look a few weeks ago – but this piece of art should really help comic book fans visualize how the suit will look in action.
Personally, I was never really taken with the character’s classic look (especially the tiny wings on the helmet). However, I can’t imagine dedicated Captain America fans getting discouraged by the new concept artwork. The image certainly positions the film version of Captain America as an extremely capable, superhero soldier.

A similar piece of concept artwork has also been released for Thor. While we’ve definitely seen a number of images of Chris Hemsworth as Thor, the new image definitely gives a strong sense of how the character will look in action – instead of posing.
Some fans might still not be sold on Thor’s missing helmet but I think (judging by this new picture) that it might actually be a cool choice. If Hemsworth is able to duplicate the concept image, swinging his own prop hammer version of Mjolnir with the same authority, then I imagine he’ll be convincing as the warrior-son of Odin.
