Among MANY MANY others. I just used African (American) heroes - not even all ethnicities.

Guess the real question is: why aren't YOU reading more "ethnic" super hero comic books? Isn't that the way to get them more exposure?

Why are all the Super Heroes White Dudes? America IS a melting pot you know. There is no time like the present to have an Ethnic Super Hero. There are none that I know of. Now is just a good a time as ever and my choice would be Xzibit. Its time he played a cool role. Provide the opportunity for other cultures to prove that they too have heroes among. Black President- Black Super Hero. Now digest that.

Not too long ago there was a huge controversy about Terence Howard being replaced by Don Cheadle for Ironman 2. Originally it was envisioned that after Ironman,eventually Howard would be spun off into his own franchise featuring James “Rhodey” Rhodes as War Machine.Part of this was predicated on Robert Downey's then status as a Hollywood has-been.That is why Howard was actually paid more than Downey for the first Ironman film.(That can be verfied easily.Check it out.) But Ironman became a hit beyond expectation and Downey became an A-lister.Howard soon found himself fired from the sequel.The powers that be claimed all kinds of reasons,but tipped their hand by replacing him with Don Cheadle.Instead of a tall,handsome,ladies' man/leading man type as Jim Rhodes is depicted in the comics,we get a short,unattractive,character actor who could never be a credible action hero,but is a perfect sidekick and foil.That is why Terence Howard was not replaced with Michael Ealy,Vin Diesel,Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson or Tyrese Gibson. Will Smith has been mentioned(wrongly) as a viable option to play Cap.No one has mentioned he would have been a pretty good James Rhodes.I am not a fan of Will Smith.But the Philadelphian might have jumped at the chance to play one of the few black superheros,and a superhero who also hails from the City of Brotherly Love,and he would have done well.

Mark Valley is truly the best choice.West Point graduate. U.S. Army officer. Decorated Gulf War veteran.He looks EXACTLY like Steve Rogers and is a good actor.America's hero would be portrayed by an American hero.(They could even put that on the movie poster:-)But if you wanted to go with a “big name”.Matt Damon could do the role justice.He is physically huge in Invictus and we all know he can handle action scenes.he has the gravitas to hold his own against Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel Jackson.But I will be disapointed if he gets the role.Mark Valley has command presence and would be convincing as the leader of the Avengers.Too old??? My reply,is C-G-I:-)Seriously check out Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button or Ray Winstone in Beowulf and you can see how a little CGI could erase a few critical years from Mr. Valley's physical age.He would be a perfect Captain America.

This is the first movie, Cap's introduction... it can't be a high school kid, nor a jaded (or even a cool)star in his 40s.

It doesn't make sense to get the Super Soldier serum and be transformed into a 40ish year-old dude on Viagra with a good haircut wanting to join up to fight nazis.

They have to respect the story, the history.

It's gotta be a young (late 20s-30s), tall (6'2 +) "All American" dude that looks cool, but like he could give and take a punch... who could stand next to Thor and not look like a punk... someone transforming into a Leader, who could say, "No listen to me this will work, follow me" and get people to follow him (Cap is just starting out)... known, but not huge... someone you wouldn't mind being for a day.

I dig Robert Downey, he was also in the Shaggy DA, and if you look at him in some roles, he's wearing heels because of his 5'6 height... I'm just saying, let's not forget his past.

I believe Paul Walker could do this.

He's made out with Jessica Alba & Moon Bloodgood, scrapped with Vin Diesel, could bring in the PG (Eight Below) and the Fast/Furious crowds and is in the latest GQ looking super cool... he doesn't have a rep for being a Hollywood $#!t head.

If I could be one Superhero, I'd be Cap... I want them to do this well & succeed, I fear them screwing this up... but I believe Paul Walker could pull this off.

All the other guys mentioned so far, I can't see being as ideal of a fit... Tatum's pretty but doesn't have the acting chops, Valley's cool, but a bit too old, others just don't look the part.

Anyone who has seen NCIS ha sproly seen the epasode that accualy refurs to The Cap. Their is a young actore named Paul Telfer who i think would be perfect hes young a great actor and he has the right build for a super soldier

I believe Jensen Ackles is the right man for CA, not only because he’s a good actor but also because he’s the right age for the roll. Cap was a young man when he signed up to take the super soldier serum. The film is going to be set in WWII not giving him a lot of time to age from 1941 when Steve Rogers became CA to 1945 when I’m presuming he gets frozen.
Having a tv actor play Cap is also better than bringing in someone like Brad Pitt or Will Smith. Jensen Ackles is relatively unknown unless you’ve seen Supernatural or My bloody valentine, so it will be similar to the Superman movies by bringing in a lesser known actor to a massive role.

Does anyone else thing Christoper Eccleston should play the Red Skull?

Maybe they want a big star for CAP but I just worked with a guy named Matt Biedel on a WWII film called Fortress and he’s like a younger Mark Valley. He’s big (6’2″) and a really good actor. He’s got my vote but maybe they’ll go with Will Smith.

I agree …….. only Paul Walker will do. He is as clean cut as the character he is portraying. He’s intelligent kind and considerate and does not abuse or extort his image in hollywood. Paul Walker lives an exemplary life and is on top of all of that a very charming human being. Only Paul Walker will do ….. everyone else is a travesty, Paul Walker was born to Play Steve Rogers the defender of the flag the one and only living symbol of freedom …. Captain America. Thank You.

As this is the beginning of Steve Rogers journey, I think it has to be a youthful all-American guy. I imagine a young navive guy that couldn’t qualify physically for WWII, who was transformed into a bad-azz Super Soldier, and began adventures which in my mind rule out the late 30s, early 40s looking actors.

Back then, guys ran to the recruiting office to enlist, even lied about their age.

How would young Steve look at the end of the transformation?

Not like most of the veteran guys mentioned, I want a guy that’s jazzed about the transformation and is discovering his abilities with us. These older dudes would be conveying a guy getting a 2nd chance, where I see young Steve getting his 1st shot at the All-American Hero title.

Before I offer my recommendation, remember Robert Downey’s only radar blip was in the Shaggy DA before he became Tony Stark.

BTW, Downey’a age works because of the technology angle; his genius brings him up to the level of the Avengers.

I think Paul Walker could do it… he’s a young all-American looking dude who swam & made out with Jessica Alba, could pull in the crowd from Fast & Furious, he’s all ready has a comic book build and he looks like he could give and take a punch… he’s know, current and visable too (currently in the latest GQ magazine looking dapper).

I love Cap, and I don’t want them to screw this up… I believe Paul could be Captain America.

Y’know, looking at chris Hemsworth, I’ve wondered if somehow the CD’s mistakenly swapped his casting as Cap casting for Thor! LOL!! He looks alot more like Cap to me than Thor, with the strong, youthful appearance; I envisioned Thor as a really huge, Sven Thorson or Triple ‘H’ type. We’ll see soon enough who was actually cast as Cap. I look forward to seeing Captain ‘A’ on the big screen and see how he’s portrayed! So far, Marvel’s doing fairly ok with casting the actors for their films so far, so hopefully they’ll continue to do so.

Who ever plays cap has to be white, american, tall, and in my opinion he has to be an older guy. Not too old. I will be mad if they cast a young actor to play cap. I think that someone like matt damon would be good. I just hope this movie doesn’t ruin my favorite superhero
