‘Captain America 2′ New Costume Confirmed; ‘Iron Man 3′ TV Spots & Armor Featurette

Published 2 years ago by , Updated July 11th, 2013 at 11:20 am,

The official launch of “Phase 2″ in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe is almost upon us with the release of Iron Man 3 - but we’ve already gotten a preview look at the Phase 2 Saga in its entirety, and does it ever look sweet. The trailer for Thor: The Dark World will be here soon and we’ve already heard it looks epic - and concept art from Captain America 2 has been hinting at a political thriller with some sick superhero action thrown in the mix.

Today, we have a few new Phase 2 goodies: a featurette for Iron Man 3 featuring the armors in Tony’s Iron Legion (which Marvel has been showing off for weeks now), as well as  a few new TV spots. In addition to that, new Captain America: The Winter Soldier set photos now confirm an earlier rumor about the new costume Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) will be sporting in the sequel.

Captain America 2 New Costume

CONFIRMED! New set photos show an action sequence from The Winter Soldier, in which Cap (Chris Evans)  is teamed up with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) on some sort of mission. Most important, however, is the fact that Cap is outfitted in a new costume – which is the spitting-image of the costume worn by his comic book counterpart in the Secret Avengers series.

Clearly the costume reflects Cap’s new status as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and some concept art that leaked online further detailed that improvements (like a (slightly) better helmet) have been made. As always, however, we’ll need to see how the costume plays onscreen in the finished footage.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be in theaters on April 4, 2014.

Iron Man 3 Second Trailer Discussion Captain America 2 New Costume Confirmed; Iron Man 3 TV Spots & Armor Featurette

Thanks to Iron Man 3 trailers, we’ve known for some time now that a climatic moment in the threequel will involve Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) calling upon an army of Iron Man suits he’s developed since The Avengers, in order to battle the Extremis-enhanced soldiers The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) unleashes.

Since that tantalizing revelation, Marvel has been dropping more intricate looks at each armor design – including a low-orbit armor, a heavy-weapon armor, and a “brute” design that pays homage to the classic comic book Hulkbuster armor. The Featurette above goes into the various new armor designs, while the TV Spots below continue to sell you on the awesomeness of Iron Man 3:

  1. YEA!!!!!

  2. I like the new costume. More covert and spy-ish (which is what the movie is going for, I believe).

  3. Yeah the suit looks really good in the set photos I saw. I’m a fan

Will say this I prefer Scarlett’s hair as it was in te avengers.

    • I actually liked her hair as it was in Iron Man 2, long and sexy.

      • I actually thought she looked sexier with short hair but the set photos I saw her hair was just longer ten shoulder length and straight. Either. Long and curly or short please.

  4. This costume is definitely better. His costume in the Avengers looked kinda goofy.

    • I thought so too the costume he had in first avenger was ten times better.

      • Yeah, I preferred the suit he wore in first avenger. The suit he wore in the avengers was cheesy.

  5. Link not working for me….

    • Link has been fixed.

      • Yea the link is not working for me..,

    • Looks cool but seems like his ears stick out alot,
also black widows hair is straight and longer, just an observation.

      • That’s the whole reason he never showed his ears in the Avengers, if you look at the art book for the movie there’s a picture of Chris with his ears showing and from the side it looks fine but the moment you see him from the front his ears stick out.

  6. lets hope he never wears that dorky original costume again it was the only thing i didnt like about avengers

  7. They still need to fix the helmet/mask of Captain America. But I like it, its not flashy, so it should be useful if he does not want to draw to much attention to himself.

  8. Cap’s costume looks a lot better. Look forward to seeing some better shots soon.

  9. Finally the exposed ears. Purists rejoice.

  10. The Avengers Cap suit was a disappointment.
Anything new is welcome and this has promise.

    • I agree, but I think that the helmet/mask still needs a bit of work though.

  11. I think the outfit is sufficient, that is- sufficient for anyone who is NOT Captain America. It’s in his NAME for crying out loud…there needs to be some red somewhere.

    • I agree, coming across a bit dull. Can I get some raised wings on that helmet Marvel?

  12. Bah, bring on all your iron man suits. Hulk could crush them all. HUUUULK SMAAAASH!

  13. Sick!! New Capt Suit!!! Can’t wait!!!

  14. On a semi-related note what’s up with Black Widow’s hair? Long curly hair in Iron Man 2, short curly hair in avengers, now long straight hair for Cap 2?

    • well, you must not know many women. they ALWAYS change hairstyles, so it’s keeping with reality.

  15. Looking very cool! :)

  16. That is not any Captain America I know…

  17. “Sick superhero action”? Are your reviewers twelve years old, AND posting from the year 1998?

  18. The beauty of the first Iron Man movie is it left you wanting to see more of the suit. Then in Iron Man 2, they throw a ton of Iron Man-like armored guys out there and it sort of lost the impact for me. Avengers got it right by again going with the “always leaving them wanting more” mantra. This movie, sadly, looks like it is going Armor Overboard. I hope I am wrong.

  19. Not necessarily on topic but if you want to see alot of behind the scenes footage on IM3 go to youtube and search for the following “Iron Man 3 b-roll footage”.

  20. new suit/costume means new action figure and that means more money, that’s why iron man gets 42 new suits, thor multiple wardrobe changes, because of money, and because if they just stick to one suit/costume for how many sequel who would in the right mind to buy a new action figure if it exactly looks like the old one, previous one and the next one

  21. The new costume looks a lot better and cool

  22. Thar suit’s looks really sleek. I can’t wait for the official plot line.

  23. the Avengers costume was alright, it was just that f-ing mask that made it look ridiculous.

  24. Looks fun ! movie theater here I come

  25. I like this new suit. The costume Cap had in the Avengers movie made him look like a Power Ranger.

  26. Saw IRON MAN 3 last night & it didn’t disappoint! Phase Two is off and running!

  27. Personally, I don’t really give a crap what his suit looks like. I just hope the movie is well written, the acting good, and that I enjoy it as much as I have the other Marvel movies.

  28. Not liking the new Captain America costume!

  29. Before you complain about the new suit, know your history… This is the suit worn as “Steve Rogers: Super Soldier”, head of the Secret Avengers.
