The official launch of “Phase 2” in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe is almost upon us with the release of Iron Man 3 – but we’ve already gotten a preview look at the Phase 2 Saga in its entirety, and does it ever look sweet. The trailer for Thor: The Dark World will be here soon and we’ve already heard it looks epic – and concept art from Captain America 2 has been hinting at a political thriller with some sick superhero action thrown in the mix.
Today, we have a few new Phase 2 goodies: a featurette for Iron Man 3 featuring the armors in Tony’s Iron Legion (which Marvel has been showing off for weeks now), as well as a few new TV spots. In addition to that, new Captain America: The Winter Soldier set photos now confirm an earlier rumor about the new costume Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) will be sporting in the sequel.
Captain America 2 New Costume
CONFIRMED! New set photos show an action sequence from The Winter Soldier, in which Cap (Chris Evans) is teamed up with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) on some sort of mission. Most important, however, is the fact that Cap is outfitted in a new costume – which is the spitting-image of the costume worn by his comic book counterpart in the Secret Avengers series.

Clearly the costume reflects Cap’s new status as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and some concept art that leaked online further detailed that improvements (like a (slightly) better helmet) have been made. As always, however, we’ll need to see how the costume plays onscreen in the finished footage.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be in theaters on April 4, 2014.
Iron Man 3 Armor Featurette & TV Spots
Thanks to Iron Man 3 trailers, we’ve known for some time now that a climatic moment in the threequel will involve Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) calling upon an army of Iron Man suits he’s developed since The Avengers, in order to battle the Extremis-enhanced soldiers The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) unleashes.
Since that tantalizing revelation, Marvel has been dropping more intricate looks at each armor design – including a low-orbit armor, a heavy-weapon armor, and a “brute” design that pays homage to the classic comic book Hulkbuster armor. The Featurette above goes into the various new armor designs, while the TV Spots below continue to sell you on the awesomeness of Iron Man 3:
Iron Man 3 will be in theaters on May 3, 2013.
