10 Seconds of ‘Captain America 2′ & New Photos Tease Tomorrow’s Trailer Release

Published 1 year ago by , Updated October 24th, 2013 at 10:14 am,

One week from today Marvel Studios launches the second chapter of the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Thor: The Dark World opening in theaters across the UK. Marvel is taking advantage of the occasion and buzz to promote the next sequel on the schedule, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The Thor and Captain America followups were both showcased by Marvel Studios at this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con, along with teasers for Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and each debuted impressive footage that emphasized the “different” approach each of the Phase Two installments are aiming to take. For the return of star-spangled Avenger under new directors Anthony and Joe Russo, The Winter Soldier adaptation is described as a “political thriller.”

Yesterday’s release of a new Captain America 2 poster coincided with news that the first full trailer would debut in two days time, and today, Marvel is pushing tomorrow’s anticipated trailer debut with a 10-second teaser trailer seen above. The teaser of a teaser showcases brief shots of Chris Evans back in his modern outfit from The Avengers and wielding his iconic shield (featured in the first Cap 2 poster) while in plain clothes. We also get brief shots of Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow (and new hairstyle), the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier lifting off, Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and the faint image of Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes suited up as the titular and mysterious Winter Soldier. Unfortunately, no footage of Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, but hopefully that comes tomorrow.

The two new stills from the film come from USA Today and feature Evans, with noticeably less blonde, shorter hair, rocking his new uniform based on the Secret Avengers costume from Marvel Comics. The “stealth” outfit, as its dubbed in the film, plays into the story of the movie. The second shot features Steve Rogers standing over the bodies of traitors who attempt to capture him in a close quarters elevator scene that played at Comic-Con – a sequence we described as one of the most impressive action bits we’ve seen from Marvel Studios to date.

Cap’s next adventure is being directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo off a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and will release in 3D. Robert Redford joins Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Samuel L. Jackson,  Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson, Toby JonesAnthonie Mackie, Frank Grillo, Hayley Atwell, Maximiliano Hernandez and Georges St-Pierre.

Iron Man 3 is now available on home video. Thor: The Dark World releases November 8, 2013, Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4, 2014, Guardians of the Galaxy on August 1, 2014The Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1, 2015, Ant-Man on July 31, 2015, and unannounced films for May 6 2016, July 8 2016 and May 5 2017.

  1. Wow that uniform on the 2nd image looks pretty great.

    • I agree, It’s hard to say if I like it better than the suit from Avengers but I definitely think it fits better for the tone they are going for in this movie.

      • I thought the suit from Avengers was a horrible step down from the First Avenger look. The suit itself was “OK” but the helmet was awful, and compared to the look Cap had in his first film, the Avengers look was pretty bad. Apparantly, most others agree, as well as the studio, since it looks like they’ve gone back to a look that is more in tune with the first film.

        • @ jp

From what I read Steve Rogers only steals his WW2 costume from a museum maybe for Bucky to remember they’re friends. Not sure the studio changed Cap’s costume from the Avengers for sure. A lot of people I noticed didn’t mind Cap’s costume from the Avengers. I didn’t.

        • Yeah, that helmet was God-awful. “This is NOT Captain America!” Such a weak character, too, I thought. Was way better in the actual Captain America movie. “Hey, you guys, go do stuff while I do not much at all.” Yeah, okay, Cap. Then again, I’m one of the few that thought Avengers was *majorly* overrated, so, take my opinions with a dash of salt. It was Iron Man 2.5 for me. Only reason I went to see it.

          • And Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy isn’t *majorly* overrated? Small world isn’t it.

            • Overrated? maybe. Easily better than 99% of any other comic book film, definitely.

It’s not about brand loyalty, or whether you are a marvel or DC guy, it’s just cinema, and i don’t think anyone can argue against that fact.

              • The more I think of Dark Knight Rises as a movie the more I disdain it…Funny thing the same goes for Iron Man 3

  2. I think I saw the Winter Soldier!

    • I watched it a few times. You did see him. You see his hair from behind as he’s approaching a car wreck and then see him entirely (almost) but it’s very quick and looks like it’s in a reflection or through glass.

    • Naw, it was just Frosty The Snowman…it’s snowing here in upper Michigan!

      • Crap… That means us Wisconsinites are getting it soon.

        • Hey, I’m in Wisconsin too.

    • He’s there on 00:07-00:08… the last shot without mask just before they showed Black Wido :)

  3. Well now, how come yesterday we didn’t get a five second tease for this preview of the preview?
haha im kidding (mostly). That being said, WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I’m excited, looks slick!

    • Yesterday’s should’ve been a 3-second Vine. They’re doing it wrong.

      • They’re gonna start doing that if people keep joking like this.

      • haha that would’ve been great, just enough time to showcase Widow’s new do. I guess I was content with the new poster though :)

        • I prefer the curls.

          • Her hair would have looked too much like the Winter Soldier’s in some shots.

  4. There you go everyone from the open discussion he was in full on colors at the end!

  5. Hopefully this one has a stronger story than the last one.

  6. Whoever started this teaser for teaser for trailer nonsense needs to be outback to the barn and go a few rounds with some MMA fighters.

That being said, i’m excited as hell for this movie

    • *taken outback

  7. Oh my God, this is shot so well!

    • What we saw at Comic-Con was definitely gorgeous and DIFFERENT (in a good way).

  8. pretty soon we’ll have teasers for teasers that tease teaser trailers

  9. lets hope he never wears the corny bright blue uniform again. seriously never and lose the stupid mask to.

    • It’s in the teaser along with a mask.

      • Not it’s not. The suit he is wearing in the shot you are referring to is closer to the suit in the first film. Its absolutely not the Avengers suit.

        • I must have missed it when Patrick was referring to the suit in the Avengers? oh no I didn’t miss it he never mentioned it?

          • So, you didn’t get that the “corny bright blue suit” he was referring to is the corny bright blue suit he wore in Avengers? Huh…I thought it was obvious. What other film features Cap in a corny bright blue suit?

            • Maybe he just doesn’t like the costume at all? he does say “lose the stupid mask”? But I guess your just after an argument

              • I just thought it was pretty obvious what he was talking about. The First Avengers uniform is not bright blue, and although whether it’s “corny” or not is subjective, when comparing the First Avenger suit with the Avengers, it’s pretty obvious which one is the corny one. Sobright blue + corny = Avengers Cap.

                • So the mask comment was irrelevant?

                  • I’m gonna jump in to say that I honestly couldn’t tell if there were any changes between TFA suit and The Avengers one. They both looked exactly the same to me.

                    • Neither I nor Patrick ever mentioned the difference between the TFA suit or The Avengers suit! didn’t stop this guy getting all bent out of shape about it?

He’s ranting about it elsewhere on this page so obviously it’s a touchy subject for him.

                    • Looks very different to my eyes.

    • I agree. I thought the suit in Avengers was horrible compared to the suit in First Avenger.

      • I had issues with the Avengers suit but did like certain aspects of its design.

  10. I can’t wait to see George St. Pierre give Cap a superman punch. lol

  11. Excited is an understatement.

  12. Rob, you forgot to mention that that scene of Cap standing over the dudes who try to take him in, actually features Crossbones, who ultimately tasers Cap…

  13. Exciting! Looks like it was filmed a bit differently than any Marvel movie to date, can’t wait to see it.

  14. @ 0:03 I don’t think that’s the Helicarrier about to take off.. it seems like… a smaller version of it, a more advanced version of it, something different.

  15. OH, GOD! I forgot about St. Pierre, I sure hope he keeps his mouth shut because he sounds like a moron when he talks!
But on the other hand I’m stoked for this movie

    • I’ve heard GSP speak on many occasions in interviews, he never sounds like a moron. He actually always sounds like a smart dude.

  16. I thought Cap’s suit from The Avengers, minus the cowl (maybe), was perfect. I’d like to see him with a costume more like that again at some point.

  17. Does it look like to anyone else that Chris Evans lost abit of what bulk he had? Capt seems like he went on the vegan diet

    • Probably the effects from the suit… I’ve seen filming footage/shot where he’s wearing daily uniform and he’s still as big as he was in First Avenger.

  18. “Sigh”…here is ANOTHER DVD I’m just gonna have to buy!

    • Wait, you’re already figuring you won’t like the movie based on a 10 second preview for a 2 minute trailer?

      • You’re new to Goldilocks?

He generally waits to see movies on Netflix rather than cinemas. That’s not to say he hates a movie, just doesn’t want to waste money on a movie he might not like.

        • I genuinely thought he works for Netflix?

  19. Can’t wait! Hate the color of scarjos hair, does not suit her. x.x Loving new look of Cap tho.

  20. I like it a lot I’m bummed its not longer though :( ah well at least we get the trailer in a few hours

  21. I’m not sure what to think about the idea of a trailer for a trailer. “TOMORROW, behold the spectacle that is a movie trailer!”

  22. Am I the only one who doesnt like Black Widows´s new look?

  23. Scar Jo looking hot af.

  24. This looks like it could honestly be the best Marvel movie not named The Avengers. By the way, I like Scarjo’s look as compared to her in the other 2. Still not like she was in Match Point tho. Should be a good movie.

    • Hmm.

I hope it is because The Avengers was the worst Marvel movie so far, even worse than that horrible Man-Thing movie from 2005.

      • That’s in your own opinion. The general consensus, as well as my own, is that The Avengers is by far the best Marvel movie. You’re entitled to your opinion and I’m entitled to mine

      • It’s fascinating when I come across people who can’t differentiate between “I don’t like this” and “this is the worst. All the scientific tests say so!” They think whatever they don’t like is “bad” when their preferences in reality don’t dictate the objective qualities of a film (or album, or painting, or whatever).

  25. Amazing!

  26. OMG OMG OMG!!! can’t wait!

  27. Just saw the actual trailer on Entertainment Tonight…..Kicks A**….

  28. So they did it. Good bye lame costume, this one looks much better!

  29. Did anyone else notice that the Helicarrier got new engines? No more rotary…
