New ‘Captain America 2′ International Trailer & Photos

Published 1 year ago by , Updated March 10th, 2014 at 7:41 am,

Disney and Marvel Studios didn’t hold back when it came to marketing Captain America: The Winter Soldier leading up to and during Super Bowl 48. The third film in “Phase 2″ of the Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts in an odd pre-Summer release date (a first for the studio) and so begins the earlier start to the marketing machine.

Last week we were allowed to post an interview with star Chris Evans and alongside it came a series of new photos and Captain America 2 character posters. Then came the Super Bowl teaser trailer, TV spot and new full-length trailer which focuses mostly on the film’s primary antagonist: The Winter Soldier.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier draws much of its story and ideas from comic book writer Ed Brubaker’s run of Captain America comics and series of the same name. While that means The Winter Soldier (if you didn’t know who he was the photos below will spoil) is a big player in the story – and no doubt will be setup for an even bigger role down the line in future films – it also means some important secondary characters will be standing alongside the star-spangled Avenger.

The new stills from the film give us a better look at Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson aka Falcon in and out of his wingsuit (in regular clothes) as well as a few shots of what could be flashback sequence where Cap (in his WWII outfit) is fighting HYDRA soldiers. Then again, there’s a modern looking tow vehicle and we know from previous photos that Rogers wears his old uniform in the present day for at least part of the film. We expect the flashbacks to give us the backstory behind the villain(s) of the film and how The Winter Soldier came to be. You comic readers will be very familiar with that story and in the film we’ll get to see how his journey crossed paths with Black Widow’s.

As for the second full-length UK trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it’s mostly comprised of footage from the Super Bowl trailer but with an intro taken from the first teaser. Additional new shots include Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) in plain clothes putting together their plan, an extended look at Rogers catching the shield after The Winter Soldier throws it back, a first look at Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp) eyeing Cap, and a few extra tidbits for the climactic action sequences at the end.

Which new character are you excited to learn more about?

  1. i hope Papa Doc doesn’t try bustin a freestyle in the movie

    • KAW!

      • HA! Awesome.

    • F the Free world! lol

  2. God this movie is going to be amazing.

    • +1

    • +2

  3. Its so close to coming out. I remember when Iron Man 3 came out I was sitting there like “I have to wait 6 months for another one of these?!” Now, this is right around the corner. So excited.

  4. Why u so mad, Bucky?

  5. Agent 13! And if they go by the comic source, she’s not going to play nice, am I right?
But the character I’m most excited about is definitely The Winter Soldier. Can’t wait to see how Bucky and Steve reunion plays out in this movie… it can be like a punch in the gut…

“We used to be best buddies, and now we’re not… what are we gonna do? Do you want to build a snowman…”

    • Whoops, made some mistakes on the lyrics haha
But seriously, someone should make a video of Cap and Bucky with that song!

    • That’s hilarious… But thanks a lot jerk. I’m going to have that stuck in my head all day now! :)

  6. I am beyond excited for this movie. The only thing I’m really worried about is that they’ll under use or kill off Falcon. He’s a great character who really deserves more time in the MCU.

  7. The sequence when Cap is in his old uniform won’t be a flashback. As you can see in the faceoff on the catwalk, Cap is in this throw back uniform. It was also alluded to by the directors that he’ll be wearing multiple uniforms in the movie.

Based upon some of the dialogue in the trailer, we’re clearing seeing some sort of Coup attempt within SHIELD, so I’m very interested to see how its all tied up.

    • Hydra all up in this biatch!

      • HAIL HAIL!!!

  8. hi emily grayson. *cough* amanda clarke

  9. One of my most anticipated movies of the year! I am so excited!

  10. Who do you think is the body under the sheet ,Widow looks pretty said ,maybe Hawkeye?

    • I think its Fury.

      • My bad. Wrong scene. Maybe Falcon?

    • It’s Howard The Duck, Natasha and Howard were a couple.

  11. Is this the first sighting of Sharon Carter/Agent 13?

    • Sorry. Didn’t read the full article. Was too excited

  12. Anybody else catch Widow in Cap’s bedroom? Are they gonna tease a love interest, then have her get ripped away to delve into her Russian backstory?

Here is a sentence without a ?… damn it

  13. They’re not HYDRA soldiers, They’re in S.H.I.E.L.D uniforms…….. seems like R. Redford hires the winter soldier

  14. after Steve Rogers dummies all the guys in the elevator what does he knock off his hand with his shield?

    • It’s a magnetic clamp the traitors were trying to use to pin him down and against the wall.

    • If you saw the leaked full elevator fight, they have two magnetic wrist clamps. They get one on cap and against the wall but the other one he kicks away before they can put it on him. It is very strong magnet and cap has a hard time getting it away from the wall. It is a fun fight.

      • ah ok, the only thing i have seen is him warning everyone if anybody wants to get out, then kicks his shield up like a skateboard along those lines.

  15. Honestly so stoked for this movie. All around it looks really good I doubted the Directors and now I feel that I owe them an apology. Yes I am basing this on trailer alone I hope Falcon shines in this movie man Anthony Mackie was great casting for Sam Wilson they need to keep him around!

  16. Pop Question everyone…why is it that AMERICAN movies, ALWAYS premiere outside of the USA BEFORE THEY ACTUALLY DO IN THE USA!!!?

    • maybe it has to do with piracy??

    • They don’t, this is a rare exception.

    • Marvel movies do but others don’t.

We’re only just getting Dallas Buyers Club this Friday, we didn’t get Lincoln until the end of February last year and plenty more examples of that.

We also don’t get the big movies until 12 hours after the US gets them via midnight screenings.

    • It’s because the US is just another box office market. Most movies don’t get the majority of their money from the us. Not sure if this mind set builds up hype more or not.

      • Which makes it weird that great movies like Dredd and Pacific Rim do well outside the US but Hollywood decides not to make sequels but horrendous movies like Grown Ups 2 do well in the US and not so much outside it and they guarantee more of the same in future.

        Mind numbingly ridiculous.

  17. really worried they will kill Falcon…he is awesome. agreed, terrific casting.

  18. Things I want to happen in the upcoming Captain America WS movie is as followed.

    1. Show how much of a boss Captain really is
    2. Show how much of a boss Winter Soilder is
    3. Show some kind of romance with Captain and Widow
    4. See the friction with Agent Hill and Fury
    5. I want Epic fight scenes
    6. Show a deep connection between Steve and Bucky and how the both struggle in their battle against each other.
    7. Show a Hawk Eye in this movie
    8. Make Falcon a better side kick then War Machine

    • When you say Hawk Eye do you mean Clint Barton or do you literally want a character to randomly have the eye of some random Hawk?

      • Sounds literally like the eye of a hawk…

        • Yeah, he wants a live action Bravestarr movie I think.

Eyes of the hawk, strength of the bear, speed of the puma.

          • Who doesn’t want a live action Bravestarr movie? I’ve never heard of Bravestarr and I don’t know what it is but it sounds good.

  19. Given SLJ’s statement about how his Marvel film contract is almost up, I think Fury is gonna bite the bullet and have Agent Hill become Director of SHIELD. However I would LOVE these things:

    - Bucky and Natasha’s past explored.
    - “Who the hell is Bucky?”.

    • Jackson still have 3 more movies left on his 9 picture deal.

Unless he fakes his death then comes back down the line as a surprise after having his own secret team acting as his eyes and ears while Hill takes over.

  20. The one unfortunate part about this movie is that you know they’re going to try and make the identity of the Winter Soldier a major plot twist, but then images like that get published and that many more people won’t be surprised by it. Best of luck to anyone who manages to avoid those (though granted they hopefully aren’t on this page and reading this).

    • The only people reading this site are people who are more likely to have read the Winter Soldier story years ago anyway, the masses won’t have even heard of the story before.

Then again, anyone who really cares will be able to look up images of the first movie and think “wait, didn’t he die?” so not much of a spoiler. Not sure what your complaint is.

      • Yeah but you know there’s always going to be that one guy who’ll complain about spoilers. This spoiler couldn’t have been any more spoiled if the words were placed in the skies themselves by way of sky-writer. Maybe I just love having small amounts of worthless power over a small minority who mostly don’t care.

  21. Since AoS is supposed to tie in, IT’S COULSON under the sheet!!

  22. I didn’t know Emily VanCamp was in there. I noticed her in this trailer and couldn’t remember where I recognized her from til I looked her up. Revenge! Glad she’s in this thing…I like how her character deals with tension.

  23. Winter Soldiers’ arm looks great.

Anyone know what metal it will be made of in the movie??

    • I would guess Adamantium. He did catch the shield after all. But then again so did Cap when he threw it back.

  24. SHEILD is secretly HYDRA. But it’s so top secret thar Fury doesen’t even know.

    • Even his secrets have secrets…

  25. My thoughts on who’s under the sheet:

Nick Fury is under the sheet. He fakes his own death to go under cover for an eventual Avengers 3 movie involving the Skrull (and possibly Thanos… ? Skrulls are Thanos’ minions for that movie?).
Fury leaves Hill in charge of SHIELD to go deep undercover as (in my theory) earth has already been infiltrated and Fury is on a mission to discover what’s going on. So we get thru Avengers: Age of Ultron (and other various pre-Avengers 3 movies without Fury). He makes a triumphant return in A3.

    • Interesting theory. Stark did call him “The Spy”, so he might be playing at something much bigger than the W.S.

  26. This is giving me a nerd stiffie.
