Disney and Marvel Studios didn't hold back when it came to marketing Captain America: The Winter Soldier leading up to and during Super Bowl 48. The third film in "Phase 2" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts in an odd pre-Summer release date (a first for the studio) and so begins the earlier start to the marketing machine.

Last week we were allowed to post an interview with star Chris Evans and alongside it came a series of new photos and Captain America 2 character posters. Then came the Super Bowl teaser trailer, TV spot and new full-length trailer which focuses mostly on the film's primary antagonist: The Winter Soldier.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier draws much of its story and ideas from comic book writer Ed Brubaker's run of Captain America comics and series of the same name. While that means The Winter Soldier (if you didn't know who he was the photos below will spoil) is a big player in the story - and no doubt will be setup for an even bigger role down the line in future films - it also means some important secondary characters will be standing alongside the star-spangled Avenger.

The new stills from the film give us a better look at Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson aka Falcon in and out of his wingsuit (in regular clothes) as well as a few shots of what could be flashback sequence where Cap (in his WWII outfit) is fighting HYDRA soldiers. Then again, there's a modern looking tow vehicle and we know from previous photos that Rogers wears his old uniform in the present day for at least part of the film. We expect the flashbacks to give us the backstory behind the villain(s) of the film and how The Winter Soldier came to be. You comic readers will be very familiar with that story and in the film we'll get to see how his journey crossed paths with Black Widow's.

As for the second full-length UK trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it's mostly comprised of footage from the Super Bowl trailer but with an intro taken from the first teaser. Additional new shots include Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) in plain clothes putting together their plan, an extended look at Rogers catching the shield after The Winter Soldier throws it back, a first look at Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp) eyeing Cap, and a few extra tidbits for the climactic action sequences at the end.

Which new character are you excited to learn more about?
