New ‘Captain America 2′ Character Posters & Photos

1 year ago by

Things are looking up for the star-spangled Avenger. Brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, are already impressing Marvel Studios with early cut of their film and are in talks to return for Captain America 3. And as Disney and Marvel gear up to release their expensive Super Bowl commercial for Captain America 2, the marketing floodgates are opening and we got the greenlight to share an in-depth interview we had with star Chris Evans while on set last summer.

Along with set visit coverage and several new behind-the-scenes photos, Marvel Studios launched a new set of character-specific one-sheets for The Winter Soldier, featuring three returning heroes from The Avengers – Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).

There are four in total with the titular hero gets two versions – one with and one without his new helmet, the first where his ears get a little air. That lack of ear coverings represent just one of many changes to Cap’s costume in The Winter Soldier compared to his WWII and Avengers outfits. From the imagery released from the movie so far it the color red has been removed entirely from the character’s black ops suit (inspired by the Secret Avengers series in Marvel Comics) and his shield has the red paint mostly rubbed off, likely from battle.

[Update: Two more posters featuring all three together have released from Marvel domestic and international]

As for the other two, Fury is seen in command of a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier first seen in The Avengers  – and as we learned from the Captain America 2 trailer, there are many. Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow is sporting another new hairstyle, one that fittingly matches the character look from Ed Brubaker’s The Winter Soldier comics where he brought Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier) back to life – the basis for the film.

Here are the official photos we were able to share alongside our set visit interview with Chris Evans:

  1. Oh Natasha…..

  2. Agreed she is Michael Jackson bad

  3. Scarlett looks great, I guess the only thing some comic fans can complain about her costume now is that her hair is too light, which would be a dumb complaint.

  4. God, Scarjo is all kinds of hot.

    • Yeah. She rocking those curves… 😛 I dig there suits!

    • She is a model hero!

  5. I love the unnecessary belt on Natasha; very Liefeld-esque.

  6. I actually prefer her IM2 hairstyle (because that looks sexy), but this poster… DAMN, she looks like a doll!
Can’t wait for Winter Soldier and Falcon character’s poster!
And that’s Batroc the Leaper in the BTS shot! Wohoho awesome…

    • I never thought I would say this, but I want to play with that doll.

  7. jesus

  8. Scar-Jo looks great, much better than in “The Avengers”. The poster of her looks heavily photoshopped though. She looks like a six foot tall model when we all know she is actually very tiny. Like Hank Pym tiny. (^-^)

    • SOOOOOOO photoshopped. And airbrushed. Sorry boys, but that kind of perfection never happens naturally 😛 Pet peeves aside, I am so pumped for this movie!

    • they took away her best assets (intended)

  9. scarjo…. woof

  10. Scarlett once again proves she’s probably the hottest actress in movies right now.

Forget Gal Gadot, squeeze Scarlett in that tight Wonder Woman costume asap.

    • NO! Squeeze her in Starfire’s costume.

      • LMAO!!!!!! I wanna see either Emma Watson as star-fire( and make every man wet his pants,) or Kristen bell could fill the role. Screw Scar J as Starfire just put her in 4% opacity yoga pants LMAO only if they made those… Dreams… Sigh….

  11. A couple of small spelling errors, buddy. But as usual a great write-up! I bet you were excited and in a hurry.

    • My bad. Rushed that up while tossing up the interview and photos. Didn’t expect new posters to drop. No excuse though.

      • How comes there is no word about Caps sheild being a baby blue color in the posters>?

  12. My goodness!!

    • Awesome!

  13. Scarlett looks absolutely stunning in that photo I guess she is really taking her workouts seriously this time around along with the costume design looking a lot more sensible and complimentary.

  14. The costumes look great!

  15. She is working it. Mmmhmm.

  16. Waitaminute. Black Widow can’t fly

    • Plot twist: She can.

  17. REALLY looking forward to this film!!

  18. As excited as I am seeing ScarJo again (who looks way better in this movie than in Avengers; IM2 still better), Im more pumped to see GSP (Batroc the Leaper) and his fight scenes against Cap! Throw in Winter Soldier and Crossbones in there too!
Just hoping the fights won’t be too short!

  19. I’m excited Go Go Go
