Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Cameron Diaz is in talks to star in the upcoming Seth Rogen starring/co-written, Michael Gondry directed Green Hornet movie. The deal has not been signed yet, but it’s being reported she is in negotiations to be the female lead in the 21st century take on the character.
The Green Hornet has been described by Rogen (who co-wrote the screenplay with his Superbad and Pineapple Express writing partner, Evan Goldberg) as a mix of action and comedy, which some people think (myself included, if it’s going to be with Rogen and Gondry) is the perfect way to go about a new Green Hornet movie. [Despite this, we continue to let Ross write for Screen Rant. - Ed.]
The jury is still out on exactly what Stephen Chow’s involvement is (he was previously attached to direct before Gondry, as well as playing The Green Hornet’s sidekick, Kato), but reports have previously stated he’s still involved in at least some capacity.
This is the first we’ve heard of a female lead for The Green Hornet project, and so there’s no word on what type of role it will be (love interest? villain?). Diaz is a pretty face, for sure, but will her acting style fit in with this new taken on the masked crime-fighter? We can only speculate at this point, but I’m personally willing to give her the benefit of the doubt at this fairly early stage of the game.

At least we can hold onto the fact that Diaz has acting experience working with a man who wears a green Mask…
What do you think?
The Green Hornet is supposedly set to start shooting pretty soon, and has a release date of July 9th, 2010.

Honestly, the idea of anyone doing “The Green Hornet” as a comedy really irritates me. The addition of Diaz does almost nada to change my opinion. The only reason I believe she’s a great actress is because she doesn’t come across half as bubble-headed in her roles as she does in interviews.
what happened to the Cameron Diaz of The Mask? Where has she gone to, now we are only getting the toothpick Diaz, I want the Mask Cameron Diaz back!
I just hope its a good script.
And I have my doubts about that.
As long as Rogen is attached…this is dead to me!
