Players can expect to see a new faction dropping into the upcoming fifth season of  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, featuring a new trio of operators to add to the pile. The new faction comes as the result of events of the recent season four narrative which saw the Armistice collapsing and the inclusion of Captain Price into the fold.

The battle-royale shooter Call of Duty: Warzone was included as part of the 2019 remake of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on top of the other modesand has since grown into a huge success with tens of millions of players having it downloaded. Letting players drop into a map with 150 other players all out to kill, the map is set in the fictional city of Verdansk, with each season expanding the story that involves the fight against the Al-Qarata forces, and each other. Unlike other battle royale games like Fortnite, players even have a second shot at life by competing in the gulag after dying on the field. The gunfights are as intense as they come, even if some of the glitches may cause some rage quits.

Activision announced they will be continuing to expand on the story arc of Warzone by adding a complex new faction into the fold - Shadow Company. Listed as a "mysterious new private military company", Shadow Company was formed "from the fires of in-fighting between the Coalition and the Allegiance." Included in Shadow Company are three characters - Rozlin “Roze” Helms (formerly Jackals), Velikan,  and company leader Marcus “Lerch” Ortega - each with their own look and background. Take a look at each of them below!

Activision gave some details about each of the characters, listing Lerch as a former Marine who is "known on the battlefield for his enthusiasm and success in regards to eliminating the enemy." Then there's the mysterious Velikan who - recalling Resident Evil's Hunk - is always covered in his armor, mask and helmet, never showing his face and letting his actions become the stuff of legend. Finally, there's Helms, who now works for Shadow Company after moving away from the Allegiance faction, Jackals.

This new season shows how deep Activision is going into its story structure for Call of Duty: Warzone, deepening the tensions between allies and a world on the brink of total chaos. As for players, it keeps things fresh and on the scale they've come to expect from other games in the series. What else this new season will provide in terms of new content and weapons in addition to the new faction remains to be seen, but it will certainly keep them engaged even if they decide to bounce between some Warzone and that free access to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PlayStation Plus in August.
