As long as the dvd comes out in October I’m there,,, this is a must buy for me as a dvdaholic.

Can’t wait as this is the last final BSG episode.
I’m not that impressed with Caprica,,,

Frozen Golfer says:

Definitely no waiting for me. As soon as “The Plan” hits the shelves, I’m buying it!! I’m still going through the shakes at not having BSG to watch anymore. From the cylon perspective also sounds too good to wait on. I have high hopes for Caprica..I have the dvd, but haven’t watched it yet. I figured I’d wait until closer to the series premier, just in case it fuels my anticipation too much.

I’m not strong enough. Plain and simple.

Luipaard says:

This is very typical of SyFy. They jerk their consumers around like this for no apparent reason, and then act shocked when their actions result in losing lots of money and ratings. I honestly cannot figure out SyFy’s business plan from here; no sane capitalist would run a business this way.

Anyway, I’ll definitely buy The Plan for my parents for Christmas. SyFy can take their commercials and stuff it.

Actually it’s typical of any business that wants to make money. It’s just another way to market good. They aren’t jerking you around in any way. If you don’t want to buy it, then don’t. They have no control over you. They’re not losing money or ratings over it, they’re making it with this tactio. From people like you who is going to buy it after all your complaining. Hmmmm….guess I was wrong, I guess they do have control over you.

I think what everyone is getting at, is why put out the DVD first, but then having it on TV 6 months later. That doesn’t make sense from a business standpoint.

Put it on TV to sell the advertising space. Everyone sees it, likes it, and goes out and buys the DVD.

What they are doing is putting the DVD out there first, in hopes that you will spend your hard earned money on it, and whether you like it or not is not their problem, they have already gotten their $20 or so for the DVD you bought.

Apparently to them, the advertising space during the show is secondary…..which is the exact opposite to pretty much any network.

Would be like the Star Trek movie that was released in May in the theaters….being released on DVD in April a month before it. If they had done that….I doubt very much if they would be at $400million+ in ticket sales for the movie thus far!

the old man says:

If you think about it the market is pretty saturated. About the only place you can’t buy movie content is in your car. That will be next. You’ll get a choice download it to the car or a receiver at home.

Syfy is more than likely going to use DVD sales figures to justify charging higher fees for ads. run during the actual airdate.
Kinda risky if the DVD sales are low, this could backfire.

I hope they realize this and only charge say $14.99 for the DVD. Any higher and I prob won’t purchase it the day it comes out. I’ll wait a few weeks or get it used. If everyone did that it would totally screw up all the marketing strategies they try to control.

LOL Strich.

The odd part about their ads on Syfy is that more than 1/2 of them are for their own shows.
