Singer out, Routh in. Do a 21st Century take on Superman, spend 20 minutes on the origin, get to the action, let Supes kick ass and wash the bad taste of his "wimpiness" in the Chris Reeve films, that's been impressed upon him ever since, out of my mouth. I want to see Supes toss a murderer thru a wall, like the golden age Superman. I want to see Superman catch bullets out of thin air and toss them back at his assailants, strafing the ground beneath their feet and duly scaring the **** out of them. They need to go back and re-examine what Superman was originally, and carry that into the latest film adjusted for the present. Obviously, I'm not suggesting that Superman not be able to fly or whatever, but I'm suggesting that they do a tougher Superman, a hero for the people and less of an establishment figure, something I think is very relevant in an age where you can't believe anything you see on tv or trust your own government. Have Luthor be the powerful businessman who owns half of Metropolis like he was in the comics, look at what makes Superman great instead of deconstructing him and above all make sure that it's a fun film. I don't mean like a joke, but make the audience feel like they've been someplace, like a vacation, and that something awesome has happened, like the original Star Wars films did for example. Have Superman do some practical things with his powers, the movie Hancock, while I have my problems with it, really reminded me why Superman is such a great character, they don't need to make Superman droll, just focus on the stuff that makes him a 'wish fullfillment" character. He's a guy, like you and me, but he has the powers (and a good sense of right and wrong, integrity, instilled in him by his adoptive parents to go with them of course) - what would you do if you had those powers? Things like that. They don't need to show Superman getting the **** kicked out of him so he's "relatable", I don't want to see that in a Superman movie, we get plenty of that in "real life", not to say that he shouldn't have a challenging opponent. Superman should come in, take care of problems waaaay to out of proprtion for us that we wish we could handle, and take off, there will always be an audience for that. IMO, kryptonite should truly be a "rare" substance, and by rare I mean if it doesn't show up for a movie or two, I'm good with it. It's supposed to be a fraction of meteor, so it shouldn't be abundant, Luthor should have a very small amount of it, but no one should know that it hurts Superman - why would he tell anyone that, and how would anyone figure it out? They could even do films where he's unaware of this weakness. It should be discovered as an accident, like on the Superman animated series where Supes goes to bust up a museum robbery and stands next to a meteor rock display and finds himself weakening. Anyhoo, yeah, I want my Superman movie. And for the luvva ______ (insert name here), can we get a Lois Lane who's healthy looking? With some curves, please? :-)

@ Andy S

Despite my loathing for Smallville, I wholeheartedly agree with Erica Durance being the best Lois Lane. I thought Kate Bosworth did an admirable job, but she lacked that drive that Durance's Lane ever so exudes.

Sadly I lost interest in Smallville after the second Season, before Louis Has shown up in the series, but she is pretty hot.

Metallicat....I happen to think the best Lois Lane on the big or small screen has been Erica Durance on Smallville. She nearly looks like the drawn Lois AND has a killer body (which of course is shown often on The CW). I'd love to see Durance show up as Lois in a big screen movie.

I think it was obvious to everyone that Singer wasn't going to return. But, hopefully, Brandon Routh will come back for the next movie. I like what I have been hearing on that front.

I was somewhat hoping, and it may still occur, that they would eventually Make "The Life and Death of Superman" by Roger Stern (essentailly a novleization of the Death of superman comics) into more than just a cartoon, which was still pretty good.
However since this is going to be a reboot, I am not too sure what they can do with the origin story that has not already been told numerous times before. They should follow the lead the Nolan did with The Joker, make Superman absolute. We all know where Superman came from and how he wasraised Etc. Touch on it briefly and move on. Also, make the film in a more serious tone. If you put Luthor in the film make him less campy and more ruthless. And for God Sake, please make Louis Lane a more interesting charactor to watch. In Returns, Kate Bosworth (though i do like her) did not make Lane the least bit entertaining to me. Margot Kidder's Lane was actually very annoying to me, I think the best Lane, has to be Terri Hatchers.
