Jessie, I couldn't agree with you more. I also loved the original series growing up, but having watched every episode of the new BSG series, I couldn't think of anything worse or insulting to the new series by trying to remake another angle of this story based on the original, especially if they use different cast members. It would be a grave mistake.
Don't get me wrong, as I said I loved the original series growing up, but to do a movie based on the original series now would be crazy since most people have got used to seeing the new series.
Also, why would you want to change the cast just for the movie? they were all fantastic in there own right.

    P'S
Mr Singer, on the off chance, if your reading any of these comments,
please, please, please do the movie based on or around Ron Moore's new series. I really believe this will work out so much better.
  • spell check please

I love the new making of BSG and respect the original, but I don't know if I can take a third re-telling of the story. In my head is Olmos, Bamber, Sackhoff, Park, Penikett, etc.

Are new characters going to be created? Are the characters going to be recast? Are they going to make it for the younger generation like they did with "Star Trek?" (I'm not saying that was bad; I really liked it, it was just really aimed at my generation (I'm 21) or younger.)

Either stick with Moore's vision and actors or wait ten years and start a fresh. Don't bombard people who haven't seen either series with a third vision. Too confusing... maybe even for me.

Andy what direction would you take ?

BSG fans of the past show or the reboot have all gone through the attack on Caprica and the subsequent fleeing from Cylon tyranny.

Are we going to see that again, puke! Its too soon.

I hope that this is more like the original series than the newer series. I know I am the minority on that, but the new series did absolutely NOTHING for me. I really REALLY wanted to like it, but after watching a few episodes I couldn't make myself enjoy it. I would prefer a more light-hearted take on it similar to the TV show (w/o the cheesiness though).

    Oh Just Thought of Something!!!

    SHATNER AS ADAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Singer is friends with Shatner!!!!

    SHATNER AS ADAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    YES!!!!!
  • Same reason they made a Star Trek movie,

They'll mainstream it to make half a billion dollars and kickstart a new franchise if they market it right and get a cool likable cast.

    @790

Sometimes I think the same thing, but other times I think that writers and producers are just riding the wave.

For instance,Deep Impact and Armageddon came out around the same time,Dante's Peak and Volcano as well,The Illusionist and The Prestige too. While they aren't the exact same movies, obviously, they have similar situations and or running themes, and they were released very close to each other.

loved the original, skeptical of the new series until i saw the pilot"holy crap it's good" loved it even more. Maybe too loyal to the new series to accept a movie re-imagining again. I'll have to wait and see.

@Longshanks, I get what you mean but I think along with making money off BSG, behind the scenes theres a larger agenda playing out...

With so many alien invasion tv shows and upcoming films, one has to step back and look at the pattern of conditioning that's taking place in the media,,, a coincidence we shall see,,,,???? 8-O
Don't forget that the same people who make movies control the news,,, 790

What’s the point of this?, another reimaging of the attack on Caprica?
The series was the high point let it rest for another 2000 years.

Seems to be the easiest thing to do these days, take an already established story, change a few things in the rewrite, then release is in theaters.Lame.and to answer your question(albeit, rhetorical I'm sure),to make gobs of money and that's about it.

The thing about it is that from the time that the original BSG came out and the new on,it was right on time, but this is just ridiculous.
  • I'm going to go throw up now.

I've done that before and will probably do that again too!
  • lol, 790 - good call :)

Entertainment Weekly has confirmed this rumor as true.

    Same ol same ol,,,
Its like the line in the latest BSG, "it happend in the past and it will happen again"

Crying Critic yeah its a good show. Check it on dvd.

Why not, I love Moore's version but that version is done.
It would be nice to have alot of the same actors involved starting with Olmos who can certainly play a more optimistic Adama.
  • The Crying Critic
I don't know anything about battlestar. Is it actually a good show that isn't too cheesey?
  • Stark
    Might be ok.
It would be better if he partnered up with the current BG group to bring what we know to the big screen.

IF they don't continue with the current casting, I'm sure they run a huge risk of bombing. I've never see a cast so loved in a group like this one!

Heed the Fan-Base on this one guys.... -Stark
  • Gary
I wont believe this until Singer himself confirms it .
  • Tim "Cloverfield"
Can we really trust Mr. Singer with this? Seriously, he cannot tell the story in a 2 hour period, which tells me we would have to have 3 films. Don't get me wrong, I have liked his past work.....but is there enough fan base to make $$$ the studio will want. ( with a budget of 200 Million?)
  • What a wild and crazy rumor.
