expendables bruce willis Bruce Willis Confirms Expendables 2 Involvement

Those who watched the 68th Golden Globe Awards dropped jaw when host Ricky Gervais delivered a stinging introduction for Bruce Willis by referring to him as “Ashton Kutcher’s Dad.” Yikes.

However, not only did Iron Bruce gracefully roll with the punch – he even managed to deliver a bit of good news to action movie fans: he’s pretty much in for The Expendables 2.

Access Hollywood claims that Willis was talking backstage with reporters at the Golden Globes when the subject of The Expendables sequel came up. Willis didn’t have much to say about the film, except that as far as he knows, he’s set to get in the ring and throw down with Sly Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li and the rest of the tough guys in the next installment.

As Willis himself said in response to Expendables 2 queries:

“Apparently it’s going to happen this year.”

And when asked directly if he would be joining the cast:

“As far as I know, barring any unforeseen circumstances, but yeah, I would love to be a part of it.”

We all know that the Bruce Willis/Sly Stallone/Arnold Schwarzenegger scene in The Expendables was a sweet treat in what was, by and large, a sour – if not downright fermented – movie. Willis’ prowess this past fall in action/comedy Red showed that he can still deliver the goods action-wise (and let’s hope so, if Die Hard 5 is to be anything worth watching). So, needless to say, seeing Willis (possibly playing the villain) in Expendables 2 would help fill more than a few seats ;-).

This news from Willis comes right on the heels of news that Jean-Claude Van Damme could join Expendables 2 as well, so already this sequel has the potential to vastly outshine the first installment. Especially if Stallone takes a cue from the George Lucas playbook and let’s someone else direct (hint, hint).

According to Bruce Willis, The Expendables 2 could start filming as soon as this year. We’ll keep you updated.

  1. Yeah, BRUCE!!

  2. Who cares?! As long as Charisma Carpenter is back, I’m happy!

I hope he’s the sole survivor of all the characters in the film!

  4. “Especially if Stallone takes a cue from the George Lucas’ playbook …”

Great comment, and so true! Sly is a decent enough director but an ensemble cast like the expendables is hard to manage even for the best – sooooo much potential!!!

  5. AWESOME!!!!! Bruce Willis is the only guy that make’s a villain character cool and kick @$$!!!

Sly should get MCTIERNAN and TONY SCOTT as co director for this film!!

  6. sweeeeeeeet willis is awesome

  7. If Stallone doesn’t direct the next film, then i think McTiernan is a good choice too to direct the film since he was involved in films like Predator & Die Hard Die Hard With A Vengance. Again, i hope Arnold returns for a role on Stallones side, it would be awesome to see who would take out Willis, Stallone or Schwarzenegger or both at the sametime, lol.

    • Personally I’d rather see Schwarzenegger in a villainous role.

  8. Id like to see it go down like this… Willis has another job that he ends up giving to Stallone again. But it ends up being a setup and half of Stallones team goes down (Crews and Cotoure both get killed, while Li or Lundgren get captured or whoever really, I’m just throwing names out) Stallone realizes he can’t get payback, or get his fellow expendables out with out more help. So he gets ahold of Arnold and asks for help, Arnold agrees to help and brings his best guy with him (Van Damme). From there all hell breaks loose

    • Not a bad idea. Maybe they could face action stars of the 90s.

  9. Great News, now they need to cement a good set of bad guys for them to go up against.

  10. Here would be the story, Willis gives stallone’s team another job and sets them up after finishing the job, making them look like terrorists on international TV.

Willis then hire’s Schwarzeneggers team to hunt down stallone’s team but then they realize Willis is turning their heads around. And then some.

Stallone should still direct but should have a co director or better producer. Like either Mctiernan,Tony Scott or Richard Donner. All of them have done great action films before. And hire a better fight choreographer like Donnie Yen

    And as for the cast?

    Schwarzeneggers team:

    Kurt Russell
    Wesley Snipes
    Donnie Yen
    Bill Goldberg

    Willis’s henchmen:

    Jean Claude Van Damme
    Michael Jai White
    Bob Sapp
    Triple H
    Mark Dacascos
Stone Cold Steve Austin (Paine’s twin)
    Brian Thompson
    Robert Patrick
    Ralf Moeler
    Bolo Leong

    CIA/law enforcement

James Woods (CIA in charge of investigating the EXPENDABLES case)
    Charlie Sheen (Wood’s partner)
Wayne Knight (Seal team computer expert)
    Michael Biehn (Navy Seal lieutenant)

    Chuck Norris (Former Expendables General)
Carl Weathers (Former Expendables Team mate/Mentor)

Danny Trejo (biker gang member that maybe gets fleshed out in the third film)
Hulk Hogan (biker gang leader/bar owner)
    Kevin Nash (Biker gang member)
    Chuck Lidell (Cameo Appearancce)

    • Mctiernan is in jail. And your idea is too hollywood cliche-ish.

      • I think that is stallone’s idea to break back in to hollywood proving that all of these guys can still make a million bucks in the box office.

Didn’t the first film had hollywood cliche-ish type of a story?

So what if Mctiernan is in jail. It was just a suggestion. And by mentioning all of the actors/wrestlers/MMA fighters that are eligible as cast members in the film, It could by far expand the entire storyline or direction of the entire franchise. It could be the star wars of the action film genre.

  11. This is awesome news! The Expendables was easily the best movie of 2010 and the best movie I’ve seen in years. With Stallone’s great directorial talents, all-star manly cast, and amazing action sequences, The Expendables sequel is sure to be fantastic.

  12. I would like to see Willis not as a villan just so he can keep coming back and giving them their missions. Need to bring in another team (preferably Schwarzenegger’s) to go against in a one-time-death-to-all slugfest. Well at least death to opposing team.

  13. I kind of agree with @Ian, Willis could be like Richard Crenna’s character in Rambo giving him missions.

  14. I was to understand that Couture says they will film starting in March

  15. Then if Couture says it begins filming in march, the sooner the better!

And hope that his character gets really fleshed out as a demolitions expert. Seems to me that everyone in the first film had explosives making couture’s character seem like a close quarters combat expert like Jet Li’s character. But still the first one was great. The second one will be sheer awesomeness!!!

  16. Add in some hot babes like Christina Milian or Jessica Biel. Maybe Mya.
