Despite less-than-stellar reviews and a fairly minimal budget, The Expendables has been wildly successful since its theatrical release last month. The concept of riffing on the action movie genre by casting every action hero in existence from the 1980s and 90s—save the ones who refused to join—clearly struck a much-neglected chord with people.

Apparently, it struck a chord with cult film legend Bruce Campbell (Burn Notice) as well. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times about, amongst other things, Evil Dead and Campbell’s longstanding history with the horror movie genre, Bruce let slip that he’s in the process of putting together a horror movie in the vein of The Expendables.

Straight from the horse's chin's mouth:

"Yeah, The Expendables, or more like theIt's a Mad Mad Mad Mad Worldof horror. I want to get so many horror movie stars that people can't possibly not see the movie. I want to give them other stuff to do. I want to have Kane Hodderbe very particular about what he eats. I want Robert Englund to be a tough guy, like he knows tae kwon do or something. I want to find out the hidden sides of all these people. Some will play themselves, some will play alternate characters as well. I may approach Kane Hodder to play Frankenstein. He could be Kane Hodder himself fighting himself as Frankenstein. It could be crazy. It's a silly concocted story that we hope to do maybe in a year or so. My breaks between Burn Notice have been getting tighter because they've been adding episodes. They're trying to trap me like a rat in the TV world, and I might just let them. There's a script, it just kind of blows right now, so no one's really seeing it. We gotta work on it. Definitely shoot in Oregon all on a stage. It's like the 300of horror comedies. We want to make it a whole world. Someone's gotta take Frank down for good.”

The movie would be a sequel to Campbell’s practically universally-panned horror-comedy, My Name Is Bruce, called Bruce VS. Frankenstein, the plot of which would be Bruce Campbell as Bruce Campbell fighting Frankenstein’s monster (obviously).

I’m not sure I love the idea of a sequel to My Name Is Bruce in any capacity, but an Expendables-esque horror movie, decked out with the greatest horror actors of the past three decades and more? Sign me the hell up.

Imagine Bruce Campbell, hilarious as ever, teaming up with the likes of Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), Doug Bradley (Hellraiser), Christopher Lee (Dracula), Tim Curry (It), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Robert Englund (A Nightmare On Elm Street), Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th Part VII, VIII, IX, and X), Asia Argento (Land of the Dead), Tom Savini (From Dusk Till Dawn), Kathy Bates (Misery), Angus Scrimm (Phantasm), Choi Min-sik (Oldboy), Neve Campbell (Scream), Samuel L. Jackson (because he’s awesome)—and that’s just to start!

The Greatest Horror Cast There Ever Was

Seriously, throw the My Name Is Bruce sequel component into the trash where it belongs and do this film right. Get John Carpenter to direct. Get Quentin Tarantino to write. I mean, what else are these people doing right now? This film is begging to be made, and it’s guaranteed to garner Expendables amounts of cash dollars at the box office.
