John "Kahless" Taylor says:

Sounds good to me. I don’t know much about this actor but he does look the part.

Xigbar says:

Heroes with internal struggles are fine.
But the thing is….Hal Jordan isn’t one of those!
He’s not “at war” with himself, he’s fine with himself.
That’s what I love about him as a character. Unlike nearly every other superhero out there, he has no inner turmoil. He knows exactly who he is, what he stands for, why he fights.
No to you, Mr. Green.

Andrew says:

I think he would be a good choose for the role. It would be good to have an unknown actor play the role of The Green Lantern

Josh R says:

Unfortunately, I don’t see him getting the role. I think he’d be great for the part, but Green Lantern’s not the most recognisable hero out there. You can put an unknown in the Batman, Superman or Spiderman role because every one knows who those characters are, but with a movie light GL the studio really needs a big name actor to attract an audience.

scott says:

Some people think since Brian was in 90210 that he is going to be typecast because of it. I’m 20 years old I’ve never watched a single episode of 90210 and since a good amount of people who would go watch the movie would be around my age, I don’t think they have anything to worry about. He would be a better choice than Chris Pine.

Karl says:

Has there been any chatter about Matt Damon? Seems perfect to me.

Rob Keyes says:

@ Karl, I’ve not seen anything on Damon for Green Lantern. Although he was one of the many rumored actors to play Cap. America…

Richard says:

I like this idea, I think he would be perfect and he WAS great in TSCC, I do remember him 90210, I didn’t watch the series but it was in major swing when I was watching a lot of TV as a kid so I saw him a lot, that doesn’t skew my view at all, I think that as long as he opened up a bit and had some more range he he would be a pretty awesome choice.

RastaZen says:

I think Green could work for the part of GL but I’d prefer Pine .

adrian says:

Green would do a good job, but believe that dont believe Pine has a little bit of an edge because of what ST will do this year. I’ve said Pine could also be a good choose for Captian America too. Good lucky to ya, Green!

wes says:

It doesn’t hurt that his last name is Green.

Daniel F says:

Four years ago I would of said no, but after Terminator I say yea he can pull it off. He’s a good actor and actually was the best part of the show by a mile. I didn’t like the last few episode of the second season and it actually killed the show for me.

I think he is a better choice than Pine or any other 20 something , but my first choice is still the same. I still think that the absolute best person for the role with out a doubt is David Borianez(I always screw up the spelling so let me just say this Angel/ Agent Seli Both.)

Saben25 says:

I like the idea of Green in this role. I think this is one of those stories that starts as sort of joke, but will slowly gain momentum until people really start rooting for it.

Mandarr says:

I’ve always thought he was a good actor. He was the big name star of TSCC other than Summer. I don’t know much about the Green Lantern as I’ve never read the comic books, but I’d like to see him move into the films.

Manowar says:

Maybe we could have Luke Perry (Dylan)play Sinestro… HAHAHA

Alex says:

@ Manowar

L-O-L.

But seriously, the fact the actor fits the part, and he’s a fan, AND lobbying for the film. Meh, I say that means I want HIM in it. Because that means he cares what happens to the character :)

Rob Keyes says:

@ Manowar, lol

… Jennie Garth (Kelly) could then play Carol Ferris (Star Sapphire)

Rob Keyes says:

^ pure IMDB work btw, I never got into 90210 and was too young when it first started.

Tom says:

LOVE the idea! Brian would be great! I’m a big fan of Green Lantern so I wouldn’t want to see just anyone get it. I do think he is perfect for it though. Fingers are crossed for you Brian! Good Luck!

Lunar Child says:

I would give Green a shot. I laughed when he came aboard TSCC, but he actually showed he can act, and act well. I also admire how he he seems to have a passion for the character and wants to fight for the role, even though he knows he isn’t a big star.

Branden says:

Personally, I don’t see it. I want Green Lantern to be older. I would like Nathan Fillion for the role instead of BAG.

Chris Pine is fine, but I would like GL to be older like RDJ with Iron Man.

Rob Keyes says:

@ Branden,

I love Nathan Fillion and I would like to see him in a big superhero flick.

About the age thing though, Fillion is only 2 years older than Green.

Richard says:

Hmm Nathan Fillion is awesome, I vote him instead haha, naw I like Green for it, Nathan hmm who could be play…

Farradin says:

Not watched TTSCC but the fact that the response to this was so positive really makes me think that he does a good job in it. If he had said this after 90210 I have a feeling that things would have been different.

I personally would love it if Nathan Fillion were to be Hal but doubt Warner Brothers knows how much Geek cred he has.

Julissa Bonilla says:

NO!!
I personally as a comic book fan do not think that this Mr. Green guy is right for the role. He looks nothing like Hal Jordan and yeah GL should be a little older but not that old. This guy looks too old. GL is supposed to be fairly young. I much prefer to see Chris Pine, he fits the role a lot more.
But I’ve sat down with my boyfriend discussing who’d be the perfect GL and he has proved to me (and I am very difficult to convince about superhero movies) that Sam Witwer from Smallville would be a pretty good pic. After seeing pics of him and GL I had to agree with him. He’s a pretty good actor and he definently has the look and face of GL/Hal Jordan. Just grow out his hair and dye it brown and he’ll be perfect for the role. DC should look into this.
But if not I don’t mind having Chris Pine, he’s the best rumored choice so far, and really the best ‘cuz they’ve had crazy, ridiculous rumors about this lately.

Branden says:

Wow! Sam Witwer. That is a good choice, but the problem is that most people don’t know who he is outside of “Smallville.” Sam could pull a “Brandon Routh”. You never know.

Rob Keyes says:

I like Sam Witwer in his roles in Battlestar Galactica, The Mist, Smallville and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed – however, I’m not sure he can be the lead in a big budget film just yet.

It’d be interesting though – My vote still goes to B.A.G. but I don’t know how realistic his chances are :(

Julissa says:

Yea a lot of people don’t know who Sam Witwer is, in my opinion this is better for DC since many people would look at him as an unknown and only see him as Green Lantern, not Doomsday or whoever else he played before. And unlike the awful Brandon Routh he ACTUALLY has acting experience so I think he may actually do a good job. For a tv actor he acts pretty good already. But this is just a suggestion. If these comic companies were smart they’d look at the fans opinions to get good ideas for lead actors since they seem to have no clue when it comes to this with superhero movies….
They wanted an older GL, he’s oler, and he has that man face that fits perfectly with the character and that is what everyone wants to see.

Branden says:

That is a really good idea, Julissa. I don’t want a person getting the role because they are a big name.

I want the right person for the role. The fans will decide if the movie succeeds or fails mainly based the casting choices.

Julissa Bonilla says:

True.
And also in benefit to DC, since Sam Witwer is basically an unknown, DC wouldn’t have to pay him a ridiculous amount of money like they would have if they pick Chris Pine or any other established actor.
DC said they are going to see how good he does in Star Trek and how much the movie makes, which means that he can demand a lot more money than DC will want to cough up.
So, Branden, if you were to start up a petition to make a company realize something, how would you go about it?
