Brenton Thwaites joined DC's Titans series as Dick Grayson aka Robin, but new fan art imagines him as the character's other alterego: Nightwing. While The CW's own DC Comics television universe has flourished - and expanded to include four series, with another, unconnected show set to debut this season - a live-action take on the Teen Titans was stalled for sometime at TNT. Eventually, it was announced that TNT had passed on the Teen Titans series, but the show landed on DC Comics' own upcoming streaming service, with the somewhat simplified title of Titans.

With filming on Titans reported to start soon, the cast for the series has been filling out in recent weeks. First, newcomer Teagan Croft joined as Raven, while it was more recently announced that Anna Diop was added as Starfire. Frontrunners for Hawk and Dove were revealed, but the biggest casting announcement came yesterday with the revelation that Pirates of the Caribbean's Brenton Thwaites will play Dick Grayson - specifically, the Robin iteration of the character. However, as fans of the comics know, Dick eventually grows out of the role of Batman's sidekick and adopts the Nightwing mantle. Now, new fan art offers a look at how the actor could look as Nightwing.

BossLogic, the graphic artist well known for his renderings of what famous actors could look like as classic comic book character, posted his latest work to Twitter. In addition to congratulating Thwaites on landing the role of Dick Grayson, the artist posted an image of what the actor could look like as the DC hero Nightwing. Take a look below:

Nightwing has finally been cast. Congratulations to @brentonthwaites glad to see all these Aussies taking over :D #TeenTitans pic.twitter.com/uKP94pl1EY— BossLogic (@Bosslogic) September 1, 2017

While BossLogic's rendering of Thwaites as Nightwing is sure to get fans hyped for the series, there's no guarantee that the actor will even suit up as Nightwing on Titans since the original annoucement of his casting specified he'd be playing Robin. Considering Warner Bros' has a solo Nightwing movie in development, with a director already on board, they may prevent the TV series from tackling the character (the studio did influence Arrow's use of Suicide Squad characters prior to the release of David Ayer's film). So, it may be some time before Titans' Dick Grayson evolves from Robin to Nightwing - if that comes to pass at all.

That said, Dick Grayson is a fan-favorite character - both as Robin and as Nightwing - so fans will undoubtedly enjoy seeing him brought to life by Thwaites. Still, while it seems the character will start off as Robin in Titans, fans may get to watch the evolution of Dick Grayson growing up and becoming Nightwing. We'll have to wait and see once more information about Titans is revealed.
