Are your eyes, ears, and brain ready to digest another piece of promotional material for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1?
The penultimate Twilight flick will hit theaters in less than three weeks’ time and Summit wants to make sure pretty much everyone knows it. Hence why numerous clips, featurettes, and images promoting the souped-up young adult supernatural romance film have trickled out recently on almost a day-to-day basis… and today is no exception, seeing how yet another behind-the-scenes clip has been released.
Oscar-winner Bill Condon directed the first half of Breaking Dawn, which (finally) sees Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan and Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen tie the knot. Thereon out, it’s nothing but the ultimate honeymoon, complete with lots of pleasant vacation time spent enjoying the lush tropical surroundings, and a wedding night so steamy that it originally landed the movie an R-Rating.
However, things go really bad thereafter, as Bella discovers that she’s pregnant with a rapidly-growing… well, something, that’s slowly but surely killing her. Matters aren’t helped when Jacob’s (Taylor Lautner) wolf pack declare war against the Cullens and Bella, out of fear that her mutated offspring will be a danger to their kind.
Listen to the cast and crew of Breaking Dawn – Part 1 explain as much (with the assistance of behind-the-scenes and actual film footage) in the featurette below:
If nothing else, this new Breaking Dawn clip is a good reminder of just how not plot-driven the Twilight movies really are. While it may be hard for some to acknowledge, the Twilight franchise is quite similar to the Harry Potter movies in that regard: a good chunk of both fantasy series is devoted to just following the main characters as they struggle to handle the pangs of adolescence, first love, and the responsibilities that come with adulthood.
Then again, Bella’s main personal conflict throughout the Twilight series essentially concerns her decision to get married and become an immortal vampire… whereas Harry struggles to maintain his personal integrity and battle a force of unmitigated evil that threatens to consume his world. Suffice it to say, that significant difference (among others) accounts for why the latter character tends to not arouse the sort of passionately negative responses that the former does.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 opens in theaters around the U.S. on November 18th, 2011.
