twilight saga breaking dawn two movies parts 1 2 Twilight Breaking Dawn Movie: Rated R & Minus Lautner?

Relax, ladies, this was an April Fools joke. icon smile Twilight Breaking Dawn Movie: Rated R & Minus Lautner?

I haven’t spent any time digging into the statistics of what age groups are most attracted to the Twilight movies, but I’m pretty darned sure that a significant percentage are under the age of 17. That being the case, there are going to be either:

1. A ton of unhappy angry, teenage girls who won’t be able to see the final film(s) in the series.

2. A ton of teenage girls who will find a way to get into an R-rated movie.

What am I talking about? Well considering the fact that Breaking Dawn is darker and gorier than the preceding books – it seems that the studio wants to try releasing The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn as an R-rated pair of movies.

Seeing as that for Eclipse they hired the director of the very R-rated and very much a horror film 30 Days of Night, it doesn’t surprise me as much as it might. Summit Entertainment may have been testing the waters by hiring a director with that background and it seems they like what they’ve seen of the film. So perhaps they want to continue down that path and see what happens?

Remember that on the potential director list are M. Night Shyamalan, whose The Happening (while not very good) was certainly deserving of an R-rating with its gruesome imagery. Also on the list is Bill Condon, whose past directorial work includes one of the very gory Candyman films. Other directors in the running have also done R-rated films and have not shied away from controversy.

What this means for the box office is completely unknown – it’s a hell of a gamble any way you look at it.

taylor lautner new moon abs Twilight Breaking Dawn Movie: Rated R & Minus Lautner?

In other news, it seems with Taylor Lautner skyrocketing to fame after showing off his six-pack abs in New Moon, he may be considering leaving the franchise before he becomes trapped by typecasting. It seems he does not want to be forever known as Jacob Black (although I don’t know how much of an improvement Stretch Armstrong is).

This is, of course, a huge deal and its not known how the studio will handle this should it come to pass. They certainly couldn’t change the story enough to eliminate Jacob from it (could they?) so they’d have to find a lookalike to replace him. No shortage of ripped young actors walking around LA, but fans have become quite attached to Lautner (to say the least).

No word on who they might consider as a replacement at this time, but click here for a list of possible young actors.

  1. Get ready for the outcry from the teenage girls and soccer moms..

  2. The story will not work without Jacob, Breaking dawn is the one movie in this saga that has a chance of being really good and liked by more than just Twi-hards, it is a truly insane story.

The R rating is great news.

  3. It would be amazing if they were rated R. To go to a movie and not have giggling every two seconds would be such a relief.

As to Lautner, he's just trying to up his salary. Of course he'll come back – - this franchise made him and he has to show it some respect and finish it out.

  4. This is definitely bad news . I hope they keep it PG13 as the R rating may affect the Box office performance .

  5. Well, maybe with the R-rating, Kristen Stewart will have a nude scene (as I've heard would be appropriate) and the movie will actually be worth seeing.

    Just sayin'.

  6. I'm assuming this is an April Fool's joke. What could Lautner be type casted as? A hunky young man? I don't see the problem there. And Meyer has already said that none of her books will be turned into rated R movies – she doesn't watch rated R movies.

  7. If Taylor isn't in it I definitely won't bother seeing. I think he will be though.

  8. This is an April Fools joke, a good one too but let's see if it matches last year's brilliance.
That depends if the right people click on the links… ;)

OH…Finally, the review I have been waiting for!
BLADE Reviews Twilight New Moon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mulMOF9TTfQ and he is verrrryyyy angry.

  9. Didn't you click on the link? Yes it's an April Fool's joke. And you have to be kidding me that she doesn't watch rated R movies? Is this why she left out the sex scenes in “Breaking Dawn” and how there's not an awesome fight sequence with plenty of detail? That has to be an April Fool's joke…

  10. Damnit!

  11. I hate Party Poopers

  12. This would be fantastic with an R rating. I would enjoy watching a bad-ass action movie without tweenies who have absolutely ruined the entire fandom with their screaming, crying, giggling, and sighing over Robert Pattinson.

I do not agree with Lautner leaving, however. That's a pretty dumb move on his part, as this franchise gave him his wings. I'm with the other poster who hoped this is an April Fool's joke.

  13. lmao, taylor launter is going to pull out of breaking dawn…. he's making millions off of it and he's getting famous. plus, the kid's loyal so i don't think he'll be going anywhere.

  14. This better be one really bad April Fools Joke

  15. WTF!!!!?? how could they rate it R,,,like twilight attracts billions or teens so none of the teens can watch it, like wtf?? and NOOOOOOOOOOOOOo taylor lautner can not leave, hes the best jacob they could ever find,,,no one can replace him. :(

  16. i meant billions OF teens,,,

    • If They Make It R-Rated Meyer Cant Watch Her Own Movie, She Doesnt Watch R-Rated Movies

  17. it needs to stay true to the book, when the book first came out in 2005 those teens should be old enough to see it by now, those just joining in with just the movie and are under 17, too freaking bad. there has to be a time when every teen girl has to have a couple of movies where they didnt get to see it with the rest of the world. calm down

  18. Why does this site even cover those movies? This is basically a website for guys. Does anyone here even give a damn about the Twilight movies?

  19. Its an april fools day joke guys

  20. That was sooooo not funny!! But of course it was! LOL!!! Good one!

  21. man thats 2wice im so gullable

  22. hes actually not gonna be in Stretch Armstrong anymore, he let it go :/

  23. dont get all wound up it should be rated R. they wont have any problem as long as they stay with the same charcters and the story in the book it will rock the box office once again.

  24. I've said it before and I'll say it again: We don't force anyone to read EVERY article on the site. All you have to do is skip it if you don't want to read about it. So you know we DO get a lot of readers of these articles, just not a ton of comments on them.

  25. R-rating FTW. I heard the vampires will now start to burn up in the sun too.

  26. Even though this is a joke, they will not make it R-rated…
Stephenie wouldn't be able to watch her own movie….. (Mormon's aren't supposed to watch R-Rated Movies.)

  27. I think the only way to do justice to Breaking Dawn is to make it Rated R. As for Lautner he will be know as Jacob forever anyway so it doesn't matter.

  28. Ha lol, no-one clicked on the link

Besides you missed April fools by a day over here. ;)

  29. crap! im only 15! this SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • I know it will suck if they rate it R I’m only 13 and I’ve seen all of the other movies cause they are all rated M but my parents will decently not let me see the movie if it’s rated R
