Bryan Cranston on Breaking Bad Breaking Bad Season 5 Premieres July 15; Concludes Summer 2013

Check Out: ‘Breaking Bad’ Season 5 Poster – Will Jesse Dethrone Walter?

AMC has announced that Breaking Bad season 5 will premiere Sunday, July 15 @10pm. Additionally, it was also announced that the final chapter of the series will conclude a year later, beginning summer 2013.

Essentially creating two “final” seasons of Breaking Bad, the divided seasons will each contain 8 episodes. Initially positioned as a “super-sized” final season, AMC’s decision to air Breaking Bad’s final season across two years always felt more like a way to take advantage of fan anticipation – rather than providing an extended conclusion for one of television’s best series.

Concluding the tale of the one-time chemisty teacher turned drug lord, much of television has been wondering what Walter White’s (Bryan Cranston) fate will be. Will his faithful partner in crime, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), follow in the same path?

Now that Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) has been “dinged,” the focus will now return to Walter and Jesse, and how they handle the opportunities (and challenges) before them. Not to mention the many (many) secrets that will be revealed.

Though it may take two years to find out the fate of Walter White, there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that it’ll be worth it. Consistently one of the most beloved series in the history of television, series creator Vince Gilligan has established a world that is home to one the best character dramas on TV.

With Breaking Bad season 5 set to premiere in less than two months, expect to hear more about what’s in store for Walter and Jesse in the coming weeks. Additionally, with production currently underway on the entire final season of Breaking Bad, we’ll hopefully find out more soon about our favorite foes in 2013.

This will (maybe) make that 10-month wait a little easier to bare. Maybe.

  1. I was sad to see Jessie and Walter part ways in this [1st half of the] season, but glad that the writers didn’t sell out. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the 2nd half, as at the moment I have no clue which way it’s going to go.

I disagree with all the stuff above though about the length of the final series and show as a whole….it’s just better this way. That’s what makes Breaking Bad so good: the fact that they manage to pack so much action in to so few episodes, without leaving the viewers scratching their heads at the end. Sure…the writers could rinse the hell out of the storyline for another 2-3 seasons, but I feel it’s just better for them to tie it up in a timely fashion, so it doesn’t become this half-arsed boring thing with a watered down ending…something which has happened to so many good shows.

…and for those who want to re-live the excitement…just watch the whole thing again! ;o)

  2. Geez, find a good editor why don’t you

  3. Found this when I was looking on the net for why the next episode wasn’t aired! :(

Absolutely gutted we have to wait so long, no doubt it will be worth while though!

  4. Ugh. Had no idea that the “final” season would be divided into this summer and next so when I sat down to watch the DVR of season 5, show 9, I didn’t see it on my saved recordings. And spent 20 minutes searching Comcast to find show 9. Well, at least, this web site (after much searching) alerted me to the scheduling. Couldn’t you guys in Breaking Bad production land been more forthcoming about when the next episodes would be aired — like an announcement after show 8. Breaking Bad is one of my favorite shows of all time, up there with other shows I couldn’t wait to see week after week, such as The Sopranos, Brideshead Revisited and the three Bill Moyer’s interviews with Joesph Campbell. The only other shows I make a point to watch these days are Mad Men and Boss.

  5. This is the best serie on the world :O I LOVE IT!!!! I don’t want the serie end :’(, i Want more seasons !!!!

    • Try Sons of Anarchy thats the best TV series Hands Down i like BB too

      • Yes, Hank SUCKS. BB and SOA are just two diff programs that you can’t compare. Loved Henry Rollins in soa.

      • Sons of Anarchy are you serious? That show is a joke, the characters suck, nobody cares what happens to them as they are all scumbags. There is not one critic in this entire world (who doesn’t ride a harley and wear leather) who would mark this show in the top 5, let alone the best.

Get out of here with that Garbage, Dexter, breaking bad, walking dead are probably the top ones. There are others who could be swapped out perhaps but NONE of them would be that terrible show. Everyone I have talked to says the exact same thing, they watched half way through the second season, fell asleep, and then never watched that trash again.

  6. I’m not one for TV shows at all but I gotta say breaking bad has been very very great TV series I only watch TV when football is on and breaking bad to see the end it’s heart breaking thanks to every one from the cast of breaking bad I’m Jason 37 yo

  7. Hi I went to put the date July 15th on my calender and it said that the 15th is a Monday not a sunday do you know if it’s the 14th instead>?

    • Jennifer – This item was posted in 2012, shortly before the first half of the final season began. So the July 15 date is actually 2012, not 2013. The latest date given by various AMC/Breaking Bad sources on the premiere of the second half of the final season is Sunday, July 14. 2013.

  8. This article says the 5th Season begins in July, four months from now but then it also says in less than 2 months. So which one is it?

    • I was wondering the same thing as everyone else. The 15th is on a Monday and then they say it will be in a couple months but July is 4 months away. I guess I will know more the closer it gets to airing bc surely they will advertise it.

  9. BB is an incredible series. The kind you take with you, even after it ends.

  10. July 15th is a monday

  11. By bare you mean “bear”.

    • No he means “bare” you know the naked kind… LOL Some people.. :-)

  12. AMC now states BB will return on August 11th.

It’s right here at the top of the page and left-side icon “On AMC”:

    • Have you not been watching this summer of 2013? This season has been crazy and intense. far better than every season that has passed! This is my only show, I don’t watch anything else, I’m too critical. 6 episodes have passed and it could almost end now. So far, so good!
