Brad Pitt & Shia LaBeouf Offered Roles in ‘Riptide’
Jul 5, 2010 by Ross MillerBoth Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf have been offered roles in a new sea-based mystery thriller called Riptide, which wa written by Peter Morgan (Last King of Scotland).

With the amount of remakes, reboots, re-imaginings and adaptations of everything from novels to board-games, you may be interested to hear of a new project that’s based on an original idea.
Summit Entertainment (The Twilight Saga) is developing a new sea-based thriller entitled Riptide. It’s a “whodunit” set on a ship called the Nautica and it’s about, “a handyman, a young stock broker, and the stock broker’s girlfriend. One of the men is found dead floating in the sea. The girlfriend is found at a nearby hotel. An investigator is called in to figure out what happened and why.”
What may interest you most is who’s attached to star in the project. According to Pajiba (who have the exclusive on the news), offers have been made to both Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf. It’s not known which role each actor has been offered but Pajiba speculates that Pitt would play the man sent to investigate, while LaBeouf would play the young stock broker.
Now it should be noted that at this point these are just OFFERS and this doesn’t mean Pitt and LaBeouf will definitely end up starring in the film. However, it almost seems about time that they both starred opposite one another. After all, Pitt has been one of the reigning movie stars for the past 10-15 years or so and it looks like LaBeouf will follow a similar path in the years to come (whether you like him or not, mark my words he’s here to stay!).
Riptide was originally written by Richard McBrien (MI-5) but the script was rewritten by the very talented Peter Morgan. If the name doesn’t ring any bells, you might know the movies he’s written: Frost/Nixon, The Queen and The Last King of Scotland are just a few of his impressive credits. He’s also co-written the script for the delayed Bond 23, which the screenwriter says has, “a shocking story.”
I’m always up for projects that come from original ideas in Hollywood and having names like Pitt, LaBeouf (yes, I don’t mind him) and Morgan certainly doesn’t hurt this particular one.
Do you like the sound of Riptide? What do you think of the idea of Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf starring together in the same movie? Let your thoughts be known in the comments below.

I think it is
Darren,
Yes, it is. As of this weekend comment spam has been out of control and the standard filters in place are not blocking a lot of it.
Vic
Sounds interesting enough, and I still like the not-really-a-hunk/not-really-a-geek-actor Labeouf.
im not a big fan of his, he comes off as much of an egomaniac as most of hollywood does lol
any new, fresh orignal ideas are always welcomed by me, i’ll just wait and see on this though
